From Yesterday’s Dawn Shoot

Great Smoky Pano

Here’s an 11-photo pano I shot at yesterday’s dawn shoot (It’s the low res version, but you can click on the photo for a larger view). We were hoping for more atmospheric effects (fog), and some clouds, but neither really showed up, so it was just a nice morning to be shooting, minus the really good light. Late yesterday afternoon before our sunset shoot, I showed the class how to set up their cameras for shooting panos, and how to make sure that Photoshop would not only stitch them together perfectly, but blend the colors and edges so it was seamless. The pano shown here stitched together on the first try (using Photoshop CS3’s PhotoMerge). I’ll post a few more later today, but we’re heading out for our dawn shoot now (it’s kinda chilly out there this morning!). Have a great day everybody! :-)

      Scott:

For less than ideal situations, you make the shot look pretty spectacular.

Quick question, and possible PSTV tutorial: for this 11 shot merge, do you take a shot and move the camera to the right, take another and move, etc…. for all shots, or do you keep the camera on a tripod, in one spot, and pan to get all shots? The reason I ask, is because when I set up a shot and pan around and merge the shots, it looks curved, even after cropping. Yours looks like one actual wide angle photo. How do you do that without the curved look?

      Thanks, Rich

Really nice image scott, I actually wish there was a larger one than the one available when you click on the image.

Similar to the comment by scott, is there a tutorial to describe how to get these pano’s perfect so there is minimal messing around with them in photoshop?

      Cheers James

      Hi Scott,

My name is Scott Kelby, Derbyshire, England. Just getting into photographer and find my name is already a big hit when it comes to great pictures. I hope I can do our name justice.
