I’m in USA Today, today! No, really.
I am so psyched! USA Today ran a full-page feature article on me in the Technology section of today’s paper, (complete with photos taken by USA Today photographer Dan MacMedan) during my LA Lightroom seminar, and anyway….I’m in USA Today!!!!!
The photo you see above is on the cover of the Money section, and it leads you to the full page article on page 4B inside.
If you don’t get USA Today, and you’re not staying in a hotel in St. Louis (like I am, where it was sitting right outside my door this morning when I woke up), you can read the article online by clicking this link. Did I mention how psyched I am? Well, it’s pretty. Pretty psyched I mean. Look, this doesn’t happen to me every day. Or ever. So, I’m psyched. In fact, I’m so psyched that I’m using the word psyched almost as much as the word cool. This is just so cool!
P.S. I didn’t forget today’s “Wednesday News Update”—just scroll down to the next post.

In the words of Navin Johnson, inventor of the “optigrab”. Things are going to start happening to you now!
Congratulations buddy! You work hard! You deserve it!

Now, if I can scrounge enough money to go on one of your photography trips where you teach then that would complete one of my dreams.
Great job and kudos to you…don’t forget about the ExpoDisc series…would love to see more about it in the future.
Chris .

Congratulations! It is a very inspiring and well-deserved article! I am a big fan of your work and your books (just got the lightroom book), and I what I like most is the humor that you inject everywhere.
Looking forward to going to one of your tours or seminars in the future.

Hello Scott,
The article was incredible. It led me to research more about you. That’s how I found your blog.
I completely understand how pysched you are.
Speaking of neighbor hood, you are in my home town today.
However, I have been residing in Atlanta for 8 years practicing Interior Architecture. While photoshop is not our base industry software, it is defintely a tool for our industry. Therefore, I am always trying to learn more ways to use it. Also, it is great to know you have written about Digital Photography for Photoshop. I just invested in my first professional camera NIKON D80 for my practice. Well, I just had to write a blog to you. I wanted to let you know that I am so happy for you. I am glad to know that someone like you exist with the GURU of knowledge in regards to Photosshop. And it is wonderful to see the Success of Others. It inspires people like myself to keep insprired within our selves of career passions in design. Well, I plan to purchase some of your books to begin mastering photoshop with our Revit Architecture 2008 software package and learn more about Digital photography in regards to Photoshop. I trust the judgement of USA TODAY. You are a Winner.
Well, I receive tech news updates from USA Today website via email. So, just think, they are introducing you to millions of people like myself whom would have never learned about you. I never pick up the actual paper unless I am sitting at a neighrbood Starbucks.
You have the “IT” Factor that Oprah talks about that makes people a SUCCESS.
Well, take care from Atlanta. Make sure you grab a site of St.Louis Landing and the Zoo/ Museum area off of Lindell, (if you have time of course. We have a lot of historic character, besides one of the best American beers. Budweiser
Wishing you much continued Success.
Sincerely best,
- Dionne
Great job. You are truly an inspiration and I love your PS and LR books.
Scott..you rock dude! Congradulations on the USA Article. I remember when I used to set up screens for you..lol. Now look at you. Continued sucess my friend.
Congrats!
Congrats! Nice article by Graham – good insight on the Kelby empire. And we’re all in this together – you helped me figure out PS and I’ve been teaching it for awhile now. And now others will discover PS & Lightroom and the rest of the good stuff that NAPP has to offer.
You deserve it Scott honestly, so don’t be so “psyched ”
Congrats and keep up the great work.
A fan From the United Arab Emirates

I’m a long time fan…bought a few of your books and a NAPP Member for life…congratulations!
“freezes the action with his TiVo to scrutinize an image, as he did recently when a spot for Sony’s PlayStation 3 aired.
“They had this really cool logo, and it was obviously done in Photoshop,” he says. “I had to figure out how they did it — in seven easy steps. That’s my life.”"
Hi Scott! Congratulations on the USA TODAY Article!! Did you every publish the “seven easy steps” for creating the cool logo? If so, where? If not, may I encourage you to show the step on Photoshop TV?
God’s continued blessings,
Kevin
B&H has a “photo retail chain?”
Congratulations Mr. Kelby!!!….. it’s absolutely fantastic to see an old Lakelander receive such well deserved attention…..

Awesome, Scott, congrats! Quite a ittle empire you’ve built!
Very cool article! Congratulations!
I want you to know that I was SO looking forward to attending your Lightroom seminar in Atlanta. When the June 1st date was posted I was so incredibly dissappointed- I will be kayaking the Green River in Utah at that time, with camera in hand of course (well, you know what I mean). Maybe I’ll catch you next time through.
I want to say thanks….well…. thanks. I’ve only been a member of the NAPP for little over a year and it has become my new “club”. Keep up the good work.
Congratulations on that remarkable article & thanks for informing those that read USA Today on occasions.
I met you at the very end of Photoshop World in Boston. I should send you that photo we took together. No Photoshop necessary, we both came out great… I really enjoyed PSW & look forward to another NAPP event. You’re pretty amazing with people & all the info you share with us.
Keep on truckin’…
Lavonne
Hey Scott, loved the article and your Lightroom Presentation. I hope you enjoyed my Norforlk presentation. I’ll see what I can do about something like that. Remember to order the meat with the bone in it.

Scott, congratulations on the USA Today article. That is so cool. Thank you for helping all of us “PS Special Challenged People”. The more I learn the more I realize how long the journey is going to be. I have several friends that helped me realize a passion I have had for photography over the years. I am just “A babe in the woods” in learning PS2 but for a old guy (47) I am doing great. I have just finished shooting my first wedding and thought I was going to stress out but being a Fire Chief, I handled the pressure and things went great. I have learned so much from your books and DVDs and find my self watching them over and over.
I am an Assistant Fire Chief at Reedy Creek Fire Department in Lake Buena Vista Florida. When I started with Reedy Creek, we only had the Magic Kingdom theme park. After 28 years of service, I have seen so much changed at Disney! My department covers all of Walt Disney World properties so I have worked/lived in a great environment that has helped me develope a keen eye for “details” and “excellent customer service”. I will be retiring from the fire service in a few years with over 30 years in the Fire Service. My next life after retirement is going to be capturing a dream of mine in photography. You live right down the road from me and I read that you and your family really like Disney. Please let me know if you and your family are going to be in our area and I will hook you guys up with passes to the parks. I know that you are on the road quite a bit so if your lovely family wants to head this way, just call me and I will make it happen.
I will be trying to attend one of your training seminars soon.
Take care and be safe:

Very nice article. Keep up the awesome work! Take a bow, you earned it.
From Boston!

Scott it’s Roz in NY. Larry told me about the article and I found it on the web. You deserve all the glamour and glory you get. There is no one like you. You changed my life and I wrote about it on the USA Today site. I will put what I wrote here as well.
BTW, I will see you on June 7th in NYC. I already have my ticket! I’ll let everyone here know you are coming!

In 2001, right before 911, I attended my very first Photoshop Seminar Tour with Scott Kelby in NYC. He literally “changed the course of my life.”
About 7-8 years ago I discovered I had a flair for digital design. I started with Paint Shop Pro like most on the web. Found out quickly that Photoshop was the industry standard. Thought it would be a breeze. WRONG!!!
I thought it would take forever or never to learn all the cool stuff people did with Photoshop. WRONG!!!
In ONE DAY with Scott Kelby I learned that “I could learn quickly and that it was all a few clicks away!” IF I could bottle the feeling I had when I left the Jacob Javits Convention Center that day, I would make millions.
It was what Dr. Phil would say “A Defining Moment!” I am a dedicated NAPP Member and in my book: “If Scott Kelby does it, it has to be good!” (sight unseen). I already have my ticket to the June, 2007 Photoshop Seminar Tour in NYC. IF Scott will be there, so will I! Scott Kelby makes a long and tedious day of learning, fun with his humor and Photoshop expertise.

Hey Scott,
Many congrats about your USA Today article. (I’m psyched too) It is great to see someone you know hit a “home run”. Cheers from Tim, Tony, Tayloe, Angie and myself. ( I still have the photo of all of us on stage in Valdosta on my desk ) . Can you make it to Tim’s in July?
Without your guidance, we are a band without a drummer, Dean
Spent the day with you yesterday. I learned more yesterday than I have in one 8 hour period in a long time. Many thanks. I am not surprised you’re in USA Today. Your seminar was awesome!
Scott:
What a joy it was at the Boston event.
You are much of an odd stick as I am.
I was the chap that discussed saving layers when one went back into Lightroom.
What a wonderful program… and the upcoming “clarify” adjustment approaches voodoo.
Have fun.
visually,
George
Me and a friend of my are trying to get in this photography thing. I got into in by accident and found I like it a lot. When I was introduced to your book “The Digital Photography Book” it launched me in to a whole new understanding of getting better pictures. I joined NAPP and I’m on the site several times daily. Basically I think you guys really know your #$%^. The article about you in USA Today was real interesting. You a real “guru” of photography and photoshop. Keep up the good work, I need you! (lol) I say all this to ask if you give personal classes and how much would it cost me/us?
Hi Jim. Photos i received. Thanks
Scott, I’m a jenny-come-lately to the photography/photoshop world. [retired teacher/minister/musician/photographer-wannabe,] How totally thrilled you must be with the USA Today coverage. CONGRATULATIONS! I look forward to all the good stuff I can learn from you and the team so I can keep my family of 170 sibs/nieces & nephews, well covered and remembered via CS3. ENJOY THE MOMENT! You see, even total strangers can be excited – and delighted – for YOU!
Way to go, Scott. Thanks for a great seminar yesterday in DC. Best value for the money. Congrats on USA Today!
Kudo’s to U Scott! I have bought many of your books and listen to your podcast and have such respect for you, so I am delighted you got some more “Props”. The USA Today article didn’t mentioned your book called” Macintosh The Naked Truth” I bought several of those and passed them on to my friends. I was especially touched what you wrote in your acknowlegements about your mother. She raised you and your brother “right”.
I was disappointed to know that authors like yourself writing computer books don’t get bigger advances because I sure to support the cause and greatly appreciate your written communication skills. Just picked up two more of your books from Amazon this week. Best wishes to U
Kelllllllll-BY!
Is that WAY COOL or what! ….and to think that I get excited when I simply see my name printed in the local Thrifty Nickel! …but USA Today??? — sweet.
So, Did you ever think there might be more to life than being really, really, ridiculously good looking?
Life is funny that way. One day you’re walking the streets as mild mannered Scott Kelby… then… “POOF”: Mr. Photoshop.
That Scott. He’s so hot right now. Scott.
Congratulations Scott! …and thanks for all of your tremendously helpful Photoshop tips and tricks. Good stuff.
~Sark
Thanx for all your help. I love Photoshop User, the NAPP site and I’ve bought a few of your books which have always been helpful. I recently went from CS2 to CS3 mostly because of a camera upgrade, and upgraded from your CS2 book to the CS3 book knowing it would pay for itself in no time. I caught your seminar in Boston with a few of my camera club buddies, and it was a good time. Keep up the good work. Congrats on your USA article!
Are you sure its not Photoshopped? HAHA! Just kidding. This is really cool! My hat off to you sir…
20 Million Empire? Wow!!!
Congratulations?
