I did an interview this week on one of my all-time favorite Podcasts; it’s called The Digital Photography Show, and in this week’s episode we talk about Lightroom, and CS3, and there’s a photography contest where the hosts and I critique the finalists, and it’s just an awful lot of fun. Check it out right here (don’t forget—you can subscribe to their show on iTunes).

      Scott:

Have been listening to your interview on the Digital Photography Show and you mentioned your Adobe Photoshop Lightroom printing template presets. Sounds like you have something in the works for sharing these. I (and no doubt many others) would be very interested in knowing where we could get these if you are of a mind to share at this time. Thanks.

      Scott,

Great interview man, you’ve got me pumped to use Lightroom, but unfortunately it runs so sluggishly in Vista that I just can’t use it. Bridge runs just fine though. Any advice?

I know Vista isn’t officially supported yet, have you heard anything in regards to Lightroom becoming more Vista-friendly? Maybe in a 1.1 patch or something?

Thanks again, love your books and blog.

Great interview on The Digital Photography Show podcast…as usual. I really enjoyed your reviews of the finalist’s photographs. You’ve talked me into Lightroom and I guess I’ll be forced to buy your book, also. USA Today…can Forbes be far behind?

Congratulations, Scott, on your well deserved success.

      Greetings Scott,

Enjoyed hearing you on The Digital Photography Show podcast. It was very enjoyable to have you as a guest judge for their latest photo contest judging.
I was a “hybrid” shooter (shot 35mm film and scan it) until I tried the Lightroom beta this winter. It was the missing link for me and now that it’s here, I am going to shoot A LOT more digitally.
Any idea when your Lightroom Tour will be in the St. Paul/Minneapolis Minnesota area? Can’t wait!

      Keep up the great work!

      Hi Scott,
As always a quality interview … thanks.

Hey just wanted to let you know, I took your advice in your Lightroom book to read from cover to cover and boy am I glad I did :o) I can honestly say this is the first time I’ve read a photoshop / lightroom book this way and man, does it make a difference.

Fantastic book!!!! Can’t wait for the updated Photoshop for Photographers book.

Just a thought … have you ever considered doing a book much like your Digital Photography Book but with photos of your set up as in the last two chapters of the Lightroom Book? Hope that makes sense. Just a thought, but these last two chapters are AWESOME. A book of stuff like that would be doubly so.

Best wishes to you and yours,
      Glyn

Scott, I agree with you. The DPS podcast is a great podcast and a great resource for digital photography enthusiasts. Your participation makes it even better.
Lightroom seems like a pretty solid product. As a Mac guy if I can make iPhoto and Lightroom work together I’m pretty sure I’ll be stepping up. Aperture seems pretty heavy for what I need. I think LIghtroom would be a better fit.
Can’t wait to hear you again on the DPS.

Scott, It’s obvious that you have a “full plate”. I have a very exciting “business” idea that I know you’d love. You are the genius to get it launched with little effort.

      Hi Scott,
I loved your participation in the DPS podcast, and learnt a lot from your constructive critiques…
I watch photoshoptv every week and enjoy all the tutorials…and after your interview I thought that it would be nice if you, the photoshop guys ,could include a critique of pictures from time to time…may be just some quick tips as in your book for digital photographer…just an idea…
      thanks for sharing Scott

      Scott,
As an early user of Lightroom since the beta days, I enjoyed your interview on the DPS podcast.
Thanks for the critique of the photos for the DPS contest. I was the finalist with the little girl and the chocolate bunny.
I enjoy the features and workflow of lightroom which give me 95% of what I need for my photography. However it looks like I need to learn alot more about photoshop. I’ll guess I also need to keep up with Photoshop TV which is a fantastic show.
Any quick tips for motion blur would be greatly appreciated.
Once again thanks from a foreign guy from a foreign land.

Mr. Kelby: I love each and every one of your appearances on the Digital Photography Show podcast! I am an Aperture fan-girl but still enjoyed hearing you talk about Lightroom. Your enthusiasm is infectious. I can remember your appearance when you talked about the expodisc. After hearing you rave about it, me and a friend tripped over each other to see who could buy one first!

I am a Photoshop Elements longtime user. I have lived by your books and videos. I JUST purchased CS3 Extended and have been watching your videos (as well as Dave, Corey, and Matt) with excitement. I suspect I will be throwing more money your way soon! Anything I can do to help grow your empire! Loved the USA Today article.

Thanks for appearing on the podcast on a somewhat regular basis. I doubt there is a listener of this podcast that is not happy when you are the featured guest! Hey, if an Aperture fan-girl can enjoy listening to your musings about Lightroom, you have some gift! (Either that, or I am one sick puppy!)

      Thanks again!

Your book is the bomb! I have read the 3 shipping books and yours is the one that is dog eared :-) Any chance you can point me to a Q&A sight for Lightroom? I have 3 issues. 1) I have 3 libraries, each with about 20k pics. I would like to open a different library without closing lightroom - today that is impossible, but they should add that feature. 2) I also want to move images to another library. I have done my imports, now I am adjusting where pictures should live. There is no way to move pics to another library without deleting and importing, which loses all metadata and keyword tags. 3) Crop lock templates don’t appear to work. e.g., i set up both 5×7 and 7×5 templates, but both are horizontally oriented (length is 7, not 5). Can’t seem to crop for a vertical 5×7. Thanks!!!

Hi, this is Scott from The Digital Photography Show.

We’ve gotten a ton of great feedback about Scott’s appearance on the show.

Scott is a truly wonderful guest: Smart, funny and generous with his time. Best of all, he knows how to talk about technical matters in a way that’s accessible and - dare I say it? - even enjoyable. We had a ball talking with him and we can’t wait till he comes on again.

I’ve used and enjoyed Lightroom since the beta, so I was happy to hear you’d be talking about it on The Digital Photography Show. I enjoyed the interview and your participation on the show.

I was also glad to see you’ve written a Lightroom book - I look forward to reading it. I always recommend ‘The Digital Photography Book’ to folks buying their first DSLR (and did so today, in fact).

Enough of this Lightroom milarky Mr Kelby. When are we going to see you give Apple’s Aperture the benefit of your great wit and wisdom?

I enjoyed the Digital Photography Show interview and look forward to seeing some of the print presets you have put together.

Like a few others, I am trying to use Lightroom on Vista and while it works some, it does get very slow at times.

Thanks again for all the great work you do and taking the time to help. I am looking forward to working with your Lightroom book that I just ordered from Amazon.

Just thought I would drop you a note. I loved your interview on the Digital Photography Show. I love your latest book (well I guess not the latest any more) The Digital Photography Book. I have also read many more but can’t remember all the titles. I also love you on Photoshop TV. I just have one question. Where do you find the time to so all that .. Plus you are editor of how many magazines?, You are the president of NAPP? and you go around the country giving workshops. Gee I am exhausted just mentioning all of that. Love all you do
