Matt Kloskowski has released a totally kick-butt book on photo retouching and photo restoration for Photoshop Elements users (it’s called, surprisingly enough; “The Photoshop Elements 5 Restoration and Retouching Book,” but even if you’re using the full blown “mac daddy” version of Photoshop (CS2 or CS3), this book is still invaluable as his retouching and restoration techniques work in Photoshop CS2 or CS3 as well. The whole book is step-by-step, and he shows the entire process from beginning to end. You can check it out right here. Kudos to Matt on this landmark book for Elements (and Photoshop) users.

I’m one of those Amazon reviewers… I had no problem giving the book 5 stars. It does indeed rock, a fact that I was glad to relay to Matt via email. DO NOT LET THE TITLE DISSUADE YOU FROM BUYING THE BOOK. Everything in it is applicable in Photoshop as well as Elements. And even if you are a seasoned veteran who has retouched thousands of photos, there are still a truckload of tips that you can put to use (the section on braces was just superb).

It has easily cracked my top ten of Photoshop books.

Is there a Elements 6 or 7 version?
