If you’ve already signed up for the now sold-out Boston stop of my “Lightroom Live!” tour, (it’s this coming Monday at the Hynes Convention Center), I’ve got a special treat for you, as Adobe’s Lightroom Product Manager Tom Hogarty will be there helping field questions, and he just might give attendees a sneak peek at…..well…I guess you’ll just have to be there. I’m really honored to have Tom at the event (and thankful to have his help, too!) ;-)

I’ll post some photos from the seminar on Monday, and give you the scoop on what Tom showed the crowd. Also, if you read this blog, make sure you come up and say “hi” when you’re at the seminar. See you there!

P.S. The next stop on my tour is Atlanta on June 1st. For more info (or to sign up), click right here.

Let me guess, the next version of lightroom is out already. I just got my training DVD w/ Chris Orwig from Lynda .com. Should I watch it or wait for the next series. Talk to ya later.

      Hi Mike:
I would definitely go ahead and watch Chris’ training DVD for sure (he’s a great teacher by the way, and will be training for us at Photoshop World in Vegas this year!).

For students/teachers thinking about purchasing Lightroom www.academicsuperstore.com has such a deal on the program. You’ll save so much that you can easily afford a NAPP seminar (or 2) like Kelby’s Lightroom tour.

And no I don’t work for the store.

I’v been using Photoshop Elements since version 3 and am very familiar with the Browser-Organizer, in fact I teach a class on Elements 5.0 at our
local college. I’m trying to use Lightroom and I guess trying to compare it
with PE’s Organizer. A few questions please.
Does Lightroom store just a small proxie file to your hard drive when you
burn a CD? If you do burn a cd how do you find your photo location when
      your in Lightroom?

If you’re a NAPP member try your question on the Members Forum.
If not the User to User Forum at Adobe is another great resource.

It would be nice if the tour made a stop in the Seattle area.

Scott- are you likely to have your Lightroom book on hand at the seminar for sale?

      Hi Everybody:
We haven’t finalized all the tour dates, so stayed tuned for more cities to be announced—I’ll post them here in the blog as soon as they’re nailed down. I know we’re also coming to Chicago, San Francisco, Denver, and probably either Orlando or Miami.

Also, note to Phil: they will definitely have the book on hand in Boston. However, they sold out on the first break in LA, so if you want one–I’d get it early.

      Many thanks,
      -Scott

As a 14 yr staffer at The Boston Herald, I am REALLY looking forward to attending the seminar in Boston this Monday. For the last many years I have been using adobe ps 7.0. I made the leap to PS CS3 four weeks ago and love this bridge thing :-)…Four days ago I purchased Lightroom.
I am desperately looking to learn this stuff to ease workflow problems.
      Scott, work your magic!

      Hi
So what would make the slideshow part of lightroom no be able to export?
      This is driving me crazy.
I have made a slideshow of images and I click on export, it asks me for a name and location to export to, I fill in the info and then NOTHING.
It just goes back to doing what it was doing before I hit export.

I asked Matt Kloskoski yesterday if he had ever heard of this, but he had not.
I can have the photos seleced, or not selected. I have reinstaled both lightroom and CS3 Web Premium with Adobe Acrobat 8. (Contribute no longer lets me update my typepad blog. but that turns out to be a typepad problem)
So I am frustrated. Help. Thanks

Rob at the NAPP help desk is fantastic.
He fixed my lightroom problem with the 1st rule of troubleshooting

      Trash the preferences.

      NAPP saves the day

What was the exciting thing you got a sneak peek at? Or did you have to sign an NDA?

      Hi Scott:

I attended your Boston Lightroom seminar today which was very impressive and a great introduction to the main features of Adobe Lightroom. It also made it easy to understand the workflow process and useful time-saving features.

The extra tips you provided added a lot of value to introduce the power and versatility of this product.

I did some earlier beta testing and want to know how we continue to make suggestions for new features or improvements on the retail version.

FYI, I came home from the seminar and immediately ordered it and also bought your book at the Seminar.

Thanks for a great seminar and your great sense of humor.

I would like to see this seminar come to the Washington DC or Baltimore area myself. You think you can make this happen, Scott?

      Scott
Yesterday was great. It was the 1st time that I took a seminar like this on my own, for personal use. Lightroom is a great product.. Please ask Tom in a future release in the web module it would be great to be able to write proof across the photos so folks won’t “steal” I think I missed the freebies, as I had to leave before the end of the print module.. But again it was great..
