My Lightroom Book Goes On Press Today For It’s Third Printing! Whoo Hoo!

Although it’s only been out around 60-days, I’m just delighted to announce that my book, “The Adobe Lightroom Book for Digital Photographers” (shown above–click for a larger photo) has already sold out of the first two printings of the book, and today the book’s publisher (New Riders Publishing, an Imprint of Peachpit Press), is going to press for its third printing.

Writing a book takes an awful lot of work, not just for me, but for my copy editors, and tech editors, and layout artists, and designers, and the crew at New Riders, and the printer (I could go on and on), but I can tell you that because so much effort goes into a book, it’s every author’s hope that it gets read, and helps, as many people as possible, so you can imagine how gratifying it is for me to see this new book already in its third printing.

Thanks SO much to everyone who has supported the book, for those of you who have shared your wonderful comments with me, and my thanks to my in-house editors (Kim Doty and Cindy Snyder), to my book designer Jessica Maldonado and to Felix Nelson my graphics guru, to my Layout team, (led by the Amazing Dave Damstra); to Ted Waitt and Marketing Maverick Scott Cowlin over at Peachpit; to my Publisher Nancy Ruenzel who had the foresight to publish a book like this on a brand new product, and to the brilliant sales staff at Pearson Education who helped to make the book such a success.

Also, my personal thanks to all the bookstores who helped to put my books into the hands of my valued readers. I am humbled by the job you’ve all done, and I can’t thank you all enough for your efforts in helping me spread the word about “The New Digital Photography Workflow” using Lightroom and Adobe Photoshop.

If you haven’t gotten a copy of the book, you can pick it up at your local bookstore, or online from Barnes&Noble.com, or Amazon.com.

By the way; there’s more news today below (scroll down). :)

      Hi Scott
I am not surprised, this book is fantastic, given the popularity of Lightroom you’ll probably go through a lot more printings of it. This is my second fave book of yours, the Digital Photography book being No. 1. I’ll probably have to buy another copy of it as I carry it wherever I go. It’s getting quite thrashed! - but it is like a bible to me right now as I try to take my photo skills to the next level. The Lightroom book is the same, it is so extremely helpful to have this just for the workflow guidance alone! Scott I just wanted to say thank you so much for what you do, you have given me and thousands of others inspiration and information that really has changed our lives and careers. If you could please, please bring your Lightroom Tour to Edmonton or Calgary, Alberta soon you could acheive and even higher level of God-like status in my eyes!

Your Lightroom book does a lot more than teach how to use the software; for me, it began the process of forcing me to think not just like a photographer but as an efficient artist as well, shooting the “right” shot more often and leaving less to post-processing. Thanks for that!

And even with the third printing, no 1.1 update. Arrrrrrgh!

      Hi Scott,

I just clicked the link you provided to Amazon.com, and read the comments about your book and “another” Lightroom book. Good reading….some were poking fun at your sense of humor on the “other” lightroom book review…but just want to tell you to never change your style or your sense of humor. You are the best Photoshop writer on the planet, and I will jump at any book you put out….thanks for all…..

I can’t believe I still haven’t got around to buy this book yet. I still try to decide where to buy it from. I’d buy it through scottkelbybooks.com if the risk of paying tax on the shipping wouldn’t exist… and shipping times to sweden. I can’t wait to read it anyway!!

      Scott,

I’m really pleased, but not in the least surprised at the success your Lightroom for Digital Photographers book is getting. As you’ll remember it’s the first book I’ve had that I’ve done as you said and read from cover to cover and boy, am I glad I did, cos hidden amongst the text are some fantastic tips that I would have undoubtedly missed.

Can’t wait to get hold of your soon to be released CS3 for Digital Photographers book, cos I have no doubt that too will be as much a success.

Congratulations once again, and keep on writing them books!!!!
All the very best to you and yours,

      Yes, keep the books coming.

BTW, I ran across a quote the other day that would make a good line when you do a NAPPTV tutorial:

“And now the sequence of events in no particular order.”

I pre-ordered this book and it’s very good. I recommend it to anyone interested in Lightroom. I also watch you on NAPPTV. Keep up the good work!

I just found your name on the Apple website. Check out the following URL:

Hey Scott, congratulations on the big success of the book! I have the book (as well as your other books like ‘the digital photography book’) and I always enjoy reading them and learning something new from you.

I am hoping that I can attend one of your ‘live sessions’ in the future to see the main man in action. :)

Will you have some updates when LR 1.1 goes out?

      Again, congratulations! It’s very well-deserved.

      Mr. Kelby,

I’m not surprised - your Lightroom book is awesome! I pre-ordered the book as soon as I could and it was worth the wait!. The layout is fantastic - each chapter is loaded with great tips/tricks. This book is a must-have for Lightroom. Also, your Photoshop for Digital Photographers remains one of my all-time favorites - not a week goes by that I don’t refer to it when I think “how do you do that retouching trick again”. Congratulations!

I agree with Rob P’s comments above - your CS2 is/was a big help with my career change too. I carried that book around with me to every class I taught just in case.

Not surprised about 3rd print of Lightroom book. I’m two thirds of the way through it, and it’s already raised my photographic game. In showing how to use Lightroom, he also teaches something about photography along the way. Even better than the Digital Photography Book. Lightroom has replaced Photoshop as my main workhorse. Guess I’m going to have to read more of his books…..

Is this the same Scott Kelby who has the “Tip of the Week” on Apple’s startpage?
