The â€Before†Photo

Thanks to msacks and wade who both posted comments asking if they could see the “before” untouched shot of the house image (shown above–click for a larger view), to see how the Seven Point System was applied to create the final image posted yesterday.
I also think it’s helpful to see the “before” windows (the open windows I covered), and the large truck and the DLWS van on the sides, which I had to clone out, though the edge vignette effect (which is also included in the Seven Point book, even though it’s not one of the “Seven Points”), did help to minimize distraction around the edges of the image, too.

Excellent idea posting before and after pictures so we can see what Photoshop did the job!
I wonder if you did notice that the 17-55mm Æ’2.8 shows bit of lens distortion area around the barn or garage attach to the house? Maybe can do minor repair with Photoshop’s lens correction?

I really enjoyed the exposure of the image and have a question about getting exposure correct “in camera” . While I am told many photograpghers bracket when shooting JPEG, when shooting RAW images do you get perfect exposure by bracketing or just reading the histogram as you take the shot and making adjustments. I know years of experience will ultimately pay off here but what do you suggest for an advanced amateur in getting it right “in camera” ??

Scott, great shot, and thanks for the before and after…. any chance you can use the mouse pointer over the pic to change to the before example?
Have you posted a few teaser paragraphs anywhere on your site of the new Seven Point System. I’m going to find it eventually but I’d be interested in what it’s all about. I’m just way behind… it’s somewhere obvious right? I see the video link.
