I ordered the 7-point system book last week from Amazon. When I checked today they are still saying that it won’t ship until December 20. Would love to get it sooner.

You can also order this book directly from the publisher (Peachpit). If you become a membeer (signup is free) you save 20% off the published price, which works out to $39.99 and shipping is free! I pre-ordered the book and it arrived last week on the day everyone was complaining that Amazon was out of stock (can’t remember which day that last week that was).

I cannot wait for this book!!! I just bought Photoshop and this will be my bible.

PS- I have never enjoyed a “How-to” book as much as I have enjoyed your book on Lightroom. Great stuff! (Not that you need me to tell you that)

    Hi Scott,

I am coming to your Lightroom Workshop in Tampa on the 30th. Will there be any copies of the 7 Point System there to purchase? I did not pre-order the book because I figured there would be copies there…

Hey Scott, this is off topic, but are you having issues with your website? Usually the site has very fast response, but today It’s taking forever for the pages to load.

Hi Scott - How well will this method work for those of us using Photoshop Elements?

I’d love to buy your $33 book and hope like hell that it will integrate will with Elements as I’m not ready to spend $649 for a full version of CS3?
    Thx.

    Hi Scott,

Being a big fan of your writing, I will be getting this book, even though I don’t have CS3 yet. I’m sure I will still find it useful, and even more so once I finally upgrade! Thanks for all your hard work!

    Sincerely,

I also forgot to mention that when you signup for membership at Peachpit, they will email you coupon to thank you for joining. This coupon is worth 35% off list price on all of their products (including Scotts new book). So when I placed my order, I got the book for the same price as Amazon sells it for, plus free shipping, and they have the book in stock!

Our local B&N said it won’t be in store until next week. After reading some of the above posts, I wonder if it may be longer…

    I have my calendar marked.

    Scott,

When I click your link above for Amazon, it still says “Availability: Usually ships within 4 to 6 weeks.” (ie, not in stock).

Placing the order says “Estimated ship date for this item: November 23, 2007 - December 7, 2007″

    Thought you’d want to know…

    Dear Scott,
I am a big fan of yours and own nearly every one of your books.
I attended the Photo Expo Plus last week and had the chance to see you there again.
I listened to your “7 Point System” introduction and must say it sounds terribly logical and I look forward to reading about it in more detail in your book.
I do have one question though. You started off in RAW in CS3. However since I have bought Lightroom I do not really use RAW anylonger. I know you are a big proponent of Lightroom (I also have that book of yours) so I am wondering if I cannot start in Lightroom instead?
I would appreciate if you could explain this a little,
Thank you and all the best, Celia

That’s nice, but at Amazon it comes down to $29 that already includes shipping. I think I can wait a week or even two for $10.

Same shipping problem w/Barnes and Noble online. I pre-ordered and got an email on the 19th saying it had been delayed and they’d let me know. Last night I went online to check order status and they say shipping Nov 18th! But I was able to buy a copy in their online store that’ll ship tomorrow. What’s up with that??? The local brick and mortar BN didn’t know when they’d be getting any in.

    Celia,

I was able to attend a preview of Scott’s 7 point system at a DLWS presentation. I was a bit tired, but Scott mentioned that the same sliders for Raw are in Lightroom and you can use them in Lightroom under the developers tab. Hopefully that will help get you started.

I came home to find my copy on my doorstep, delivered by PeachPit Press. I have never used photoshop. I opened the book read the introduction and lesson one. Then I did a series of my photos…bam! Just like that I was “sharking” my own images! I can’t wait to go through all 21 lessons! Thanks for writing this…and really thanks to your brother for pointing out the need for this approach to learning Photoshop.

    Hi Scott,
I just spent a glorious weekend working through all the lessons in your 7-Point System. Like a favorite novel I didn’t want it to end! I forgot to eat or sleep, and really, I had fed the children plenty the week before so I think they were OK…

I have a few questions I’m hoping you can answer…

Most of the photos I finish are prepared for print (offset) and therefore need to be converted to CMYK which I usually do at the end. Wondering what your recommendation would be for incorporating this step… should it be very last (before or after sharpening?) and if so how would you deal with the occasional color-shifts that this conversion can cause?

Also wondering if you would select different target shadow and highlight colors if you knew a photo was destined for CMYK and print.

Thanks so much for all you’ve given - learning from you is a joy!
