Hi Scott,
I just spent a glorious weekend working through all the lessons in your 7-Point System. Like a favorite novel I didn't want it to end! I forgot to eat or sleep, and really, I had fed the children plenty the week before so I think they were OK...

I have a few questions I'm hoping you can answer...

Most of the photos I finish are prepared for print (offset) and therefore need to be converted to CMYK which I usually do at the end. Wondering what your recommendation would be for incorporating this step... should it be very last (before or after sharpening?) and if so how would you deal with the occasional color-shifts that this conversion can cause?

Also wondering if you would select different target shadow and highlight colors if you knew a photo was destined for CMYK and print.

Thanks so much for all you've given - learning from you is a joy!

I came home to find my copy on my doorstep, delivered by PeachPit Press. I have never used photoshop. I opened the book read the introduction and lesson one. Then I did a series of my photos...bam! Just like that I was "sharking" my own images! I can't wait to go through all 21 lessons! Thanks for writing this...and really thanks to your brother for pointing out the need for this approach to learning Photoshop.

Celia,

I was able to attend a preview of Scott's 7 point system at a DLWS presentation. I was a bit tired, but Scott mentioned that the same sliders for Raw are in Lightroom and you can use them in Lightroom under the developers tab. Hopefully that will help get you started.

Same shipping problem w/Barnes and Noble online. I pre-ordered and got an email on the 19th saying it had been delayed and they'd let me know. Last night I went online to check order status and they say shipping Nov 18th! But I was able to buy a copy in their online store that'll ship tomorrow. What's up with that??? The local brick and mortar BN didn't know when they'd be getting any in.

msacks
That's nice, but at Amazon it comes down to $29 that already includes shipping. I think I can wait a week or even two for $10.

Dear Scott,
I am a big fan of yours and own nearly every one of your books.
I attended the Photo Expo Plus last week and had the chance to see you there again.
I listened to your "7 Point System" introduction and must say it sounds terribly logical and I look forward to reading about it in more detail in your book.
I do have one question though. You started off in RAW in CS3. However since I have bought Lightroom I do not really use RAW anylonger. I know you are a big proponent of Lightroom (I also have that book of yours) so I am wondering if I cannot start in Lightroom instead?
I would appreciate if you could explain this a little,
Thank you and all the best, Celia

Scott,

When I click your link above for Amazon, it still says "Availability: Usually ships within 4 to 6 weeks." (ie, not in stock).

Placing the order says "Estimated ship date for this item: November 23, 2007 - December 7, 2007"

Thought you'd want to know...
