News Update, and My Lightroom Tour is in Tampa Tomorrow!

Before we get to the news; I hope I’ll see you tomorrow at the Tampa Convention Center for the only Florida stop of my Lightroom Live Tour. The final stop will be in Honolulu, Hawaii on December 3, so if you can’t make Tampa, this is a semi-legitimate excuse to go to Hawaii on a “Business trip” (wink, wink). Here’s a link to the Tampa Seminar details.

Now, onto the Monday News:

  • Apple released Leopard (their latest Operating System, which totally rocks by the way) on Friday night, and by 6:00 pm EST Terry White (from Terry’s Tech Blog) had posted the “Green Light” for Leopard compatibility with Photoshop CS3, InDesign CS3, and Adobe Illustrator CS3. Here’s the link to Terry’s site, which includes a link to Adobe with their offical details on which applications are affected by the Leopard update; and which will need an update. It’s mostly good news.
  • Later today we’ll be posting the name of the winner of a signed copy of my iPhone book along with an Apple iPhone itself. Keep your fingers crossed.
  • The Pro Digital Photographers site over at Lexar.com has posted the third of my video tutorials, and the latest one “Giving your images that Hollywood Look, Part 2″ details more of my Hollywood Portrait Effect. Here’s the link.
  • Last week, I mentioned attorney Carolyn Wright’s interview over at “The Digital Photography Show.” Well, Scott Eccleston over at the Weekly Photo Tips blog, mentioned her excellent blog, and I thought I’d provide a link to her “PhotoAttorney.com” blog, as well as one’s to Scott’s Weekly Photo Tips blog as well. So, there ya go.
  • Want some Monday photo inspiration? Then check out the very slick portraits of New York photographer Carrie Schechter. Make sure you visit her Avertising Portfolio, and within that her New Work, Stories (these look really complicated), as well as her Music galleries. I just love her work, and it’ll start your Monday off right. (Here’s the link).
  • Lastly, make sure you scroll down to the next post for my post on “Photo Editing Ethics.” It’ll make ya stop and think.

See you tomorrow in Tampa! :)

    One real important Leopard point.
LIGHTROOM WILL NOT PRINT WITH LEOPARD.

When you go into Lightrom, and try to go to the print module you will get an error.
So if you do all your printing from Lightroom, wait until there is an update.

I would have been up front in pointing out the Lightroom is any but compatible with Leopard. Not being able to print is not trivial. Some reassurance and a rough timeframe for fixing this from Adobe would be appreciated from long time Lightroom users. Bare in mind, new machines from Apple ship with Leopard.

    Scott,

I am to lesson 18 in the 7 points book. OMG is this a killer book!!!! Anyway there are a few errors I think I have found. Maybe they are my errors but I cannot for the life of me find where I have the Trajan Pro font. In fact a search of my system says “NOPE! Not Here!”

I installed the upgrade to photoshop cs3 EXTENDED and it is not on the disk. Am I wrong that this might not be on the install disk?

    Hi Scott,

I have just downloaded 7-point system lesson photos to my G5 IMAC (using 10.4.11 tiger) but when I attempt to open photos in camera raw I get this error message,

The document “lesson1.jpg” has an embedded color profile that does not match the current RGB working space. The embedded profile will be used instead of the working space.

    Embedded: Adobe RGB (1998)

    Working: sRGB IEC61966-2.1

I’m using PhotoShop Cs, could this be the problem ? Any suggestions on what is going on here.

    Hi Scott,
just got Your book “The 7-point system for PS CS3″ and I think it’s what we all have been waiting for - how you actually do AND in what order!
    It saves so much time.
But I tried to download the photos with no success - don’t know if the links are ok or what it is. It doesn’t work anyway. Would be great if You could fix that problem.

    Hi
Have downloaded the zip files for the ‘7 point system’, but once I have unzipped them the files won’t open in photoshop & appear to contain no information(0 bytes).

Is this a problem with my computer or the photos.

Be grateful for your advice as I am keen to get started.

    Thanks
    Mark
