Scott, Mr. Kelby!
You opened a whole new world to me. I've always wanted to learn better photography techniques, wanted to be able to take and produce photos better then just snap shots. Even getting a better , (Nikon d80) camera did not help much. Until I picked-up your book "The digital photography" Vol.1. My God! How enlightening! How great can someone expalin ithe complicated things in such a way that a novice can become great! I sudiet every chapter, every page and tip. Never before was I so exited to study as this time. Not long after that I happen to go on a trip to Patagonia. Armed with the BOOK and my equipment I was able to bring home waht for me and my family is a treasure, great nature photos! Many of them now hang on walls in our house, our friends and relatives call me aprofessional photographer. I have since purchaed the lenses and printers that you recommended and my photos improved yet more.
thanks a lot for being there for me! I hope one day to meet you! Can't wait to receive the Vol.2 I ordered.
thank you, very much for making my life more interesting and substantial.

Hello Scott,

I bought the first book and learned so much. I have a question if you have the time to answer. In the first book you show what is in your bag. I would be real interesting in knowing what would be in your bag if you had Canon equipment. Right now I am ready to move up to better lenses.

I have a Canon 30D. My beginner lenses have been a Tamron 24-135 and a Sigma 70-300.

I currently have a Tokina 12-24 F/4 lense. I am considering my next purchase to be a Canon 24-70L F/2.8 and then possibly a Canon 70-200L F/2.8. Would you have better suggestions.

I am also undecided whether to get IS on the 70-200. It is my understanding that this would slow down the auto-focusing for stop action pictures which is my main reason to not get it.

I would greatly appreciate any advice. I want my next purchases to be the ones that last for awhile.

Please email me if possible.

Thanks,
Derrell Gore

Mr. Kelby,

I bought volume I a few months ago and I really can tell you it helped me to improve my technics and expand my knowledge about photography --I had read a couple of books before but, all of them were very formal and technical. I've been interested in digital photography since four years ago. I live in El Salvador, Central America.

Your book helped me to get the best of my new semi-pro camera. As a newbie and amateur photographer I am looking forward for your new work. I also have become a daily reader of your blog.

There's no doubt that your work is helping lot of people to keep the enthusiasm for the wonderful world that photography is.

Thank you very much.

Hi Scott,

I just picked up book #5 that was authored by you. It occurs to me that I have been having trouble lately reading photoshop books from other authors. It seems that I don't have to work as hard when I read your books as I do from the others and I seem to be getting a bit lazy. So, if you don't mind can you please make your books more difficult to follow - or can I just give you a list of things that I would like to learn in the next year or so that way you can write about them and I can go on being fat, lazy and happy. Ok, not really fat but definately lazy and happy.

Thanks,

Alex

I think that I was one of the people who may have been frustrated by the delay in the Amazon delivery of your 7-Point System book. First let me apologized because I thought perhaps you and your publisher might have had more control over where first batches of books got delivered (seminars vs. retailers who had pre-orders), from what you write in your blog post, I realize now that that is not the case. I have certainly learned to be more patient through the process. Second, I would just like to tell you how much I really enjoy the 7-Point book. I had been focusing a lot of time on Lightroom learning this new program; and noticed that I was not using Photoshop as much. The complete digital workflow that you show in the 7-Point book gave me more guidance in how to integrate a RAW converter (such as Lightroom) with Photoshop. I learned some new tricks and was reminded of some old techniques that I hadn't used in a while. It got me using Photoshop on a daily basis again. Great stuff. I hope to have a full review of the book up on my blog soon with my own pictures that emulate the subject and feel of yours. Finally, the momentum from the 7-Point book makes me very excited to see volume 2 of your Digital Photography Book. I'm sure it will have the same relevant and practical information that is the signature of your style.

I can't wait to get this new second edition. I read your first book through several times and have so many flags in it to highlight the great points that it looks silly. I've recommended it to all my friends and bought it for several as gifts. I hope in the future to be able to attend one of your seminars (I'm in CT). I really wanted to come down to the Javitz's Center for your CS3 Power Tour but was out of town on business. I'll be there the next time for sure!

This is exciting. The first Digital Photography book was the best photography book I have ever read. (Just don't tell John Hedgecoe - really it would kill the guy).
