Bert Monroy on Photoshop User TV (and some Tuesday News Nuggets)

Hi Everybody. Here’s a couple of quickies (more photo posts coming tomorrow):
Bert Monroy is our very special guest on this week’s episode of Photoshop User TV (watch it here online), and we also do Part 2 of our live “Holiday Gear Guide” which we started on last week’s show. Also, if you didn’t catch my Gozno Gear Guide in the print edition of Layers Magazine, you can read it right here.
Moose Peterson has launched a special micro-site dedicated to his user review of the Nikon D3, and in true Moose fashion, it’s very well done. Lot’s of quick, to the point info, and this new site is already generating lots of buzz in the community. Here’s the link.
James Dempsey (of the excellent CreativeGuy.com blog) has put together an article in Macworld magazine called the “Grab bag of tips for Photoshop” (he even included one of mine. I always knew I liked him). Anyway, you can catch it right here.
If you’ve got two minutes, check out the very cool photography of Dirk Karsten. I really like the look and feel his images have. (Here’s the link).
That’s it for today folks. I plan on posting some shots from my sunset shoot with Randy Braun, Joe McNally and Anne Cahill tomorrow. See you then.

Hey Scott, could you do a write-up or segment on Photoshop User TV on how and when you use a tablet with Photoshop? I’ve been considering purchasing one, but I’d like more information on the advantages of using a tablet.
I think that would be a great educational topic, and I’m sure many of your readers would be interested in this.
Thanks, keep up the good work!
Hi Scott,
Was just looking at the Westcott lights at B&H that you mention in your Gonzo guide.
Were you aware that the single light you quoted at $603.20 is “European Voltage” only? The one usable in the USA is a mere $580.00. (Mfr # 4823 B&H # WESTD5LK) What a deal! Just thought I’d pass that info along.
I have your CS2 and Lightroom books for digital photographers and think they’re great. I also think the Photoshop Guys are…..cool.
msacks:
Check out Photoshop User TV Episode 99 that features a segment on using the Wacom tablet. http://www.photoshopusertv.com/?s=wacom
Cheers,
Laurel

I wasn’t able to view that episode, it was archived from the site and only available to NAPP members. Maybe Scott will put something up here on his blog.
Hi Scott,
As always a very entertaining episode of PhotoshopUserTV … and well done all of you for getting in the Top 5 of ALL podcasts…great stuff!!!!!
Now that I’ve put an order in for the Nikon D3 and new 24-70 f/2.8 FX lens I didn’t hesitate in checking out Moose’s blog; makes great reading … just hope it comes sooner rather than later. One thing I’ve not seen mentioned and wondered if you would be aware … Can the Nikon D3 be set to take a burst of exposures as you would for say a HDR image, but on the self timer like the Canon 5D?
Anyway, take care out there Buddy and speak soon,
Best wishes to you and yours,
Glyn
Hi Scott….welcome back, and hope you had a great time in Hawaii and had some well deserved time off…
I also love the style of Dirk Karsten….thanks for sharing. Scott, I know I have asked you before, and maybe it is not possible, but could you or your photoshop gurus do a few tutorials on how to obtain the effect that Dirk gets on his photos which is also similar to other photographers you feature on this blog?
Anyway, I sure enjoy your blog and appreciate all you do in Photography education….you rock.
Scotty
