New Online Class from Taz Tally (and other news quickies)

Here’s a couple of quick Thursday Things:
- Taz Tally, one of the highest rated trainers at the Photoshop World Conference & Expo has just joined the Kelby Training Online Experience, and his first class with us went live today. It’s called, “Photoshop For Printing,” and this class is designed for people who will be printing their images on a printing press (so, they’re preparing images for CMYK separations to appear in brochures, magazines, print ads, etc.), and Taz is one of our industry’s leading experts on the topic. Here’s the link to a list of the topics he covers, and you can watch a few sample classes while you’re there.
- If you’re planning on coming to Photoshop World (April 2-4, in Orlando, Florida), and you’re planning on taking a pre-conference workshop on April 1st, you’d better snag your spot now, as some of the pre-conference sessions are already selling out. The next two that will fill up (probably by next week), are Ben Willmore’s Advanced Photoshop workshop, and Matt Kloskowski’s Photoshop Layers Essentials workshop, and the Epson Print Academy. Here’s the link to a list of the pre-cons.
- One last thing: one of the best tutorials I’ve been out there on cross-processing effects in Photoshop is over at PlanetPhotoshop.com. Here’s the link to it.
Have a great Thursday everybody, and scroll on down for a continuation of Lighting Gear Week!

Scott, you simply rock with information and recommendations that I can use. Definately, the “trial and error” method can be a costly experience. But you make it easy to get the right stuff first time around because you’ve done the work and are sharing your opinions. This saves me not just a ton of money, but time too (and time is money, so add that on top of the savings
. Thank you for sharing!
Hey Scott,
Thanks for the quike not about cross process. I’m smacking myself in the head for having not figured this out sooner. I also posted a quike before and after over at flickr. The link is below is case anyone would like to see.

What ever happened to the retouching class you were prepairing? I was looking forward to it.
I have started watching the tutorial, but I think most people would like to see how to print perfectly on an ink jet printer. That will interest a far broader audience. Just an idea.
Hi Scott,
Back to MPix from last week. I received my first order of metallic prints. All that I and everyone else in my division that sees them can say is “WOW”!
Again thanks for a tip that I will use for a long, long time to come.
Mike
Agree on the MPix metallic prints. They are really neat!
Also, like Kajo, I’m looking for books or videos about preparing photos for inkjet printers (whether desktop at home or high-end printers done at a service) as well as for printers that expose photographic paper like the LightJet that MPix uses. Any recommendations?
Hm, I get a lot of the replies here in my RSS feed from this blog. A bug?
