Friday News Quickies

Here’s some news. Quick.
- For everyone who’s emailed me asking about “The Missing Boom Arm” info from the studio lighting day from my Lighting Gear Week last week; RC Concepcion figured it out for me (Thanks RC). The Avenger D500 20″ Boom Arm is $32 (here’s the link).
- Dave Cross has been out on the road with his new tour, and one of his attendees posted photos and a full review of his day at Dave’s “Maximum Photoshop CS3 Tour” in Richmond, VA earlier this week. Here’s the link to the review and photos. (NOTE: Dave’s in LA next week, on the 25th, so don’t miss it!).
- Not only are people talking about the cover design for my buddy Matt Kloskowski’s Layers book cover (designed by the amazing Jessica Maldonado), somebody is actually showing you how she does it. We found a tutorial on YouTube.com where this guy is showing his version of how she built the cover. Here’s the link to his “Jessica Cover” tutorial.
- Don’t miss this week’s episode of “The Digital Photography Show” radio show, as their special guest is none other than Jeff Revell, of PhotoWalkPro.com. (Here’s the link to the show).
Have a Happy Easter everybody! See you right here next week (known throughout the Photoshop universe as, “The Week Before PhotoshopWorld.” Well, at least it’s known that way around my house).

Hi Scott,
Happy Easter for you and yours!
I hope you have a great Good Friday as well.
Mike

Hi Scott.. Was hoping you or someone else might be able to help.
I ordered half your kit from B&H (sb800, tri grip with stand and clamp, reflector stand, manfrotto flash clamp) just instead of two sb800’s I got one….
I was really excited, but I haven’t been able to figure out how to mount the tripgrip clamp, or the flash clamp on the stands… Is it suppose to go through the little round hole under the clamp? if so I have a problem because the screw on the stand is too big for that hole. Am I missing something?
Also the reflector stand the pictures show some arm that is suppose to come out and hold the reflector, mine only seems to go up nothing comes out….
Any help greatly appreciated. I was hoping to have this thing sorted out to do a little shoot Sunday.
THis is the only way I can get the clamp to go on the stand:

This way seems the proper way but it just doesn’t fit

The Flash holder too doesn’t mount, this seems the logical placement but the screw is too big for the hole:

Am I missing some screws or attachments?
Thanks a lot in advance… Dan
Scott I checked out PhotoWalkPro.com and it seems that Jeff Revellt is thinking about doing a “Walk in Orlando”.
Happy Easter to all

This was my first seminar, so I didn’t know what to expect– but Dave gave an oustanding one in LA. The subjects were well suited to maximizing one’s workflow– I really got excited about the selections segment!
Dave is a great, well-paced teacher and works hard– remaining at his desk to answer questions during EVERY 15 minute break. I highly recommend the MAXIMIZING CS3 seminar to anyone considering it.
