A Quick Infrared Shot From Dubai
My buddy Jeff Revell brought a Nikon D-70 which had been converted to Infrared, and we had a lot of fun shooting with it today as we went around for 8 hours and got acqainted with the city. We have a dawn shoot scheduled for about 3 1/2 hours from now, then I’ve got my class to teach this afternoon, so I’d better hit the hay.
The shot above, with the world’s tallest hotel in the background—(the iconic 7-star Burj Al Arab hotel) was taken with Jeff’s Infrared D-70, using a Nikon 24-70mm lens (click on it for a larger view). Jeff got a killer infrared shot of these cool horse sculptures which were just a few feet behind where I took this shot (here’s the link to Jeff’s site).
I’ve gotta run, but I did want to let you know that Dubai is just absolutely amazing! I am blown away! More when I get a chance.

Cool shot.
Be sure and have fu…. ah, what am I worried about?…. Of course you will have a fun time while you are there!
So even at 5pm, your still up at after midnight :>)

Sorry, I have a problem and i don’twhere to ask;
I ‘m using Ps3 and have Mask Pro 4.1 Plug-in installed, and I have a problem when I want to use guassian blure filter, it open a dialog box has been titled “Mask Pro – Make Work Path” instead of the guissian blur wintow. and when I uninstalled that plug-in, the problem was solveed.
How can I use Guassian Blure when I have Mask Pro Plug-in installed?
(Sorry for My English…)
I’m sorry again…
I’m guessing there are a few more things to do around Dubai than the Lake Miriam Drive area in South Lakeland?
Welcome to Dubai Scott,
Make sure you lunch at the hanging restaurant on top of the Burj Al Arab for an out of the world experience and also visit Mall of the Emirates and try the indoor ice skiing as well. Unfortunately i am not in for your seminar tomorrow because of work commitments but i am booked for McNallys 2 days workshop which is happening at the end of this month. Quite excited to see all the big names of the photographic world to be in this part of the world.
How is everything there in Dubai?
What class are you teaching?

Hi Scott,
Great shot! Can’t wait to see more when you get back. Have a safe trip home.

I love Jeff’s infrared shot, and now want to do infrared. Is there a filter or action that I can use to start with?
Thanks for all the updates!!!
Great shot! Unfortunatly, I can not afford to modify my D70s to shoot infrared. Is it possible to fake the infrared look accuratly in photoshop/ACR/Lightroom?
