You Gotta See This!

Corey Barker turned me onto this amazing flash video (it’s only about 90 seconds long), at the MGM Grand web site and I have to tell you; it is absolutely just about the most amazing Flash-based promo I’ve ever seen. This should have been a SuperBowl ad (it blows most of the others away).

Take 90 seconds, follow this link, then click the ENTER MAXIMUM VEGAS link on the right side of the photo; sit back, and just watch. Incredibly creative, seamlessly edited, and flawlessly executed. My hats off the designers/video editors who dreamed this up.

Now that’s some darn good editing. Pretty wild.

I often wounder how effective fancy flash sites are. I know they look stunning, but take photographer for example. Does the consumer really take more interest because of them.

I’ve been moving away from flash. (except for slideshows) and using html/wordpress so I can get noticed by google more, have a fast loading simple and easy to navigate page. This comes up on Pro Photo Show and I’m always playing with stats to see how people respond to what.

I guess I’m going off on a tangent now when all you really intended was for us to see a cool video.

      Super neat!.. Gavin

The “Enter Maximum Vegas” Button kind of doesn’t appear in Safari 3.1. At least for me not. But in Firefox it does work.

Hope this isn’t considered “off topic”, but I think the continuity in this video (from 1994) is a heck of a lot more impressive. One camera, one continuous shot…

Very similar to what the folks at www.2advanced.com do. They are a talented bunch. If you haven’t seen their site yet it is worth checking out.

      Very creative stuff.

Seim Effects: Flash still has it’s small place on the web and in this case, it really works. MGM and Vegas needs to be flashy. The problem with Google is when the entire site is created with flash.

Technically cool, but very boringly Las Vegas. For an equally impressive Falsh site try this one belonging to David Hidalgo and Louis Perez of Los Lobos fame - www.latinplayboys.org

This is so 2 years ago. Check out http://www.thefwa.com for some recent flash that will blow this out of the water.

I do agree it’s amazing through but it has been attempted many times within the industry to replicate.

Really nice, sexy without being over the top, caters directly to the age group likely to spend the money $. Well done!

I think Flash used like this is cool, but agree with some of the other posters that if it’s the only technology used, it gets boring AND time consuming.

Wow! Seamless, transitions well. What other software do you think was used to create this promo besides Flash? Thanks for sharing Scott.
