Scott, This quick note has nothing to do with your current Blog Entry - it's just the quickest way I could think of to say Thanks. I just finished reading your first Digital Photography Book (I'm about to start on the Book 2 now ). Your "HOW-TO's have been invaluable to me and I learned a thing or 27 (How many chapters were there?). The first thing I did, was throw away my little WalMart tripod that I've cursed more times that I shake a stick at, and went out and bought a new Giottos with Manfrotto ballhead. LOVE them!!! They've made a huge difference already. Thanks for the advice and the great tips.

Scott, as I know you like to shoot food.

Today was a contest of the best paella. It takes places every year very near to my house in basque country, Getxo.

Follow the link below to see some spectacular paellas. You should come next year to make some better shots as I did. You are invited.

LOL! As a recovering food blogger, I am so used to annoying my fellow diners with the pre-eating photos. My husband is so happy I've stopped doing it so regularly (although when in Italy, I still feel the compulsion to document every bite).

Great pics!

Nice post and well with that lens of course! Does that mean you are going to use your 18-200 all the time from now on for your food photography? ;-)

Hi.
Great stuff. Very interesting.
It is also interesting to see how food photography has changed theese last, say 10-15 years. I have lived long enough to shoot food with large format cameras, with tons of artificial light, at f:32 to have everything pin-sharp. Today we "sell" feelings more than "what's on the plate". I like that.
Thanks Scott for sharing your great knowledge in such an easy an informal way.

Hey Scott,

Like always you have some great information to pass along. I am trying to put together a cookbook and nothing ever looks good enough. Your tips should help a lot.

Thanks,

I'm not a fan of cloning (cellular kind, not Photoshop kind) but in your case I'd make an exception! The world could definitely use more Scott Kelby's!

Scott, I am consistently overwhelmed by both how much you accomplish and how much you give back selflessly.

Hi Dean:
These are pretty much the straight photos out of the camera, but I added a little bit of the Clarity slider and Sharpening in Lightroom (no Photoshop). I also brightened the exposure just a little bit on the photo on the top right corner.

Hope that helps.

Many thanks for the update regarding the calendar Scott - very much appreciated. With luck I might just be able to come up with one as good as yours following my family trip to Tuscany in late August. Failing that I can always use your unregisered images I suppose. :-)

Hello Scott!

I'm glad you and your family had a great time in Italy, except for your poor brother Jeff having his memory card taken away from him!

The photos you took there are great, they show how just using whatever is there to help is all thats needed, plus of course great composition, the right lens and camera settings.
