Join Me For The First Ever Worldwide Photowalk On (you guessed it), Saturday, August 23rd!
You gotta watch the video below—it tells the whole story. We’re gonna have a blast!!!!!
Here’s the link to the site!
(NOTE: Lots more cities around the world, more than 100 total, will be added, but if your city isn’t on the list yet, click this link to see how you can host one in your city. Also, we’ll be updating the site each day with more cities, so check back often to see when a city near you gets added!)
The walk is sponsored by Adobe Systems, Wacom, Epson, CDW, NAPP, Peachpit Press, MPIX, Kelby Training, and Photo Walk Pro.

Great Book Scott hope to be in your photowalk.
Hey Scott – saw the site for a bit and now it’s gone again – can’t wait for the Photowalk!
Great thing to do the 23th of august!
I hope as many as possible sign up for the photo walk – world wide!
//Robin from Sweden
Great idea! You gotta love the WWW and how everyone across the world can be connected like this. I just hope I have the right lens with me for the photos that I want
.
Scott,
Nothing in the NYC area? Can additional sites be added? Lot’s of Kelby fans here in northern NJ and the big apple.
Bob
This is great – I’m so excited that it’s finally announced!
Well this sucks … How does 2 cities in europe mean worldwide?
Hi Gang:
Lots more cities are being added (we’re updating the site today), and Bob you’ll be happy to know, we already have two different walks for NYC.
If you want to lead a walk in your area, go to the site and follow the links for info on how you can lead a walk.
Hope you’ll join us!
-Scott
Here in Manchester, England it is the Gay Pride Festival that weekend. Could make for some very interesting portraits from the Manchester Photo Walk!
Great idea Scott, thanks.
Scott,
I read the terms and conditions.
Guess I’ll have to decline the Photowalk, much as I would love to participate. Once again, I note that a photography contest has become a rights grab. I am not among the ranks of professional photographers, but I still decline to give away rights as in “a royalty-free, perpetual, irrevocable, worldwide, non-exclusive right and license†you ask us to grant you.
Photowalk has gone from being something fun to do, to several paragraphs of legalese.
Michael
Scott,
is the site currently being updated?
I went to link and it was down the few times I checked.
It worked the first time then when I came back to it, it was gone.
I’ll keep checking throughout the day, but I did notice nothing in Buffalo was started, so I think I definitely will be starting one here for that.
Crossing my fingers for Boston!!
-Bob
you guessed it, Boston
And I was all worried about being away on vacation for this date I was suppose to keep opened …
It just so happens I’ll be in Vancouver and was planning a quick meetup with David Duchemin anyway. Consider myself signed up.
Hey Scott-
The link to the site is not working, all I get is a blank page.
Yay! Finally it’s there. Everyone, I think you should bear with them a bit. Cities are probably being added and things are going complete
Hey Scott – that would have been fun – but I have a Wedding Shoot that day which is always a blast !!
Have fun and I hope more cities get added
@ Michael Shaw,
Hey Michael, I can understand that you are a little bit bummed out about the Submission Rights Clause, but I don’t think that should stop you from joining the walk in your area.
You can still go out, meet a great group of photographers in your area and enjoy the day and the socializing afterwards. Then if you choose not to, just don’t submit your images. Granted you don’t get to compete for the prizes but you get to have fun anyway!
I am leading the NYC photowalk. I am still finalizing details, but I am thinking that it will be Chinatown, Little Italy and NoLIta. Look forward to seeing everyone there.
Alessandro
To all people here in Sweden (mainly southern) who might want to go to the Gothenburg Photowalk (which om the host of). I haven’t decided 100% on where the start point is going to be but we’ll be walking up to Götaplatsen and end at a café nearby. Just finalising the last details, keep posted on the website
The photowalk site seems to be gone again
I did see it for a min then tried to go to the sign up page and the site went blank. Now the main page is gone too.
-Scott
PS hoping there it one in Raleigh, NC.
Not sure if it’s a technical glitch, but it looks like http://www.photoshopuser.com/photowalk isn’t working at 8:30AM-CDT/9:30-EDT, I’ve tried it on two computers (both Mac and Windows), just not workin’… nothin’, zip’, zero.
Excited to try to to get details for Chicago, Illinois!
Hey Scott,
Big fan of the blog and photography in general. Love your books! I agree with Bob that a NYC photowalk is a must! Glad to hear your response that there will be multiple walks in NY. Sign me up! Cannot wait.
HAHA I was just looking at my calendar wondering why I had “A day with Scott Kelby” blocked off….
Hi Everyone,
I am leading the Washington DC photowalk but my DC page has not yet been updated with the details. I am actually planning to have the walk in Old Town Alexandria but I don’t have an exact route as of yet. For those of you that are interested in hosting your own walk and want more information on photowalking and how to organize one, you can check out my post on this very subject – http://www.photoshopuser.com/photowalk/city/washington-dc.html
I look forward to seeing everyone on August 23rd.

Come on Arizonans, lets opt for a cool city. Flagstaff, Prescott…
Sorry, wrong link. Try this one.
http://www.revellphotography.com/blog/?p=474
Jeff
Westerville, Ohio? That’s the closest one to me right now.
No NYC? No NYC? How is that possible. I put the whole day aside for you, too. Man…
@ Alessandro.
You have a good point.
I am disappointed that the rights issue came up for me, but it would be fun to do.
@ Scott: Chnaged my mind. Count me in for Dunedin.
Michael
Scott,
This is great and I am registered for NYC…..Cant wait…
Frank
Scott,
Link is still broken…. (or is broken again)
Count me in if there’s anything going on in Arizona!
For those in the DC area, interested in a less marketed and more community oriented photowalk, I’m leading one the day before. We’ll be shooting the sunset and the National Mall.
That photowalk, and many more can be found at http://photowalking.org
I agree this is sad

Really NAPP is a membership I thought to protect us artists?
This looks interesting. Hopefully you guys can get one setup in or near N.C.
Hey Scott,
Awesome Idea!!! I am trying to register as a leader for good ‘ole Gator Country in Gainesville, Florida but having trouble. Let me know if I could lead this. We can do the Swamp, downtown, and some cool urban areas.
Cheers,
Laurel
Very cool!!! Would love to join one in NYC. If it’s booked up, would like to lead one.
However, link is still broken.
Ok…I thought I would do something different, even though the event looks real fun and all (Really does.. I hope Madison,WI is going to be on the list. Guess I’ll wait and see;) I was thinking, does Matt just like to show off the literature. He does such a “great
” job on Photoshop User TV. I’m sure it’s totally random and it just is…but I had to ask.
I’m not sure why people are complaining about the fine print.
If you look at any contest,
whether it be for radio, tv, photography, general art.
the second you submit your work, you rights to it.
This isn’t something new, so I’m not exactly sure why people are acting surprised. This is standard contest legal jargon.
aside from that looking forward to the Buffalo walk
I did get a confirmation link for signing up for the NYC photowalk but as of 12:24pm whenever I click on this link I only get a blank page. The photowalk page is also blank at this time also.
I will check back later to see you have been able to correct the blank pages.
Looking for one in Northwest Ohio, waiting for the link to get fixed for more info.
Thanks
Can’t wait for the site to be up again so I can sign up. Hope San Francisco is in there somewhere? Should be so cool.
I will do photowalk in MUNICH
and hope you will join me
I tried to register for the MacGroup Detroit photowalk but all I get is a blank page. I do not want to miss such a wounderful opportunity. is there any other way to register? I am sending this from work but would prefer that my home email be used to respond.
It seems as if a great site that has been working on promoting, organizing and establishing Photowalks should have been part of this somehow.
http://photowalking.org
Give homage where its due? Promotion of you books seems like a petty reason to hijack a well established online community. Maybe you should have worked together with them in some way?
@Nate Benson, no this isn’t standard contest legal jargon, but unfortunately many contests do try to get away with a rights grab. Any photographer who values their work should refuse to participate in contests with rights grabs and make their reason known to the sponsors. Note that anything you submit is subject to this clause, not just the winning entries. We were successful in banding together in voicing our opposition to NatGeo and getting the rules changed for their “Great Outdoors Photo Contest” to something more palatable (see A Photo Attorney’s post http://www.photoattorney.com/2008_01_01_photoattorney_archive.html).
We need to continue to fight back against blatant rights grabs. The only people who participate in contests with rights grabs are those who don’t know any better or who don’t value their work.
Hey Scott, yet again you have delivered! What a brillant idea. I hope that it will be the great success that it deserves to be and hopefully there will be a walk near me
David in Northern Ireland
Scott:
All of the links on Photowalk are not working. Either I get a blank page or absolutely nothing happens.
It is 2:55pm in NYC.
Please give us all an update. The video is working…but, there is no way to sign up or do anything else but watch your video.
Maybe we can all send you a post card with our information, and you reply by postcard to each one of us?
Democritus
Guys, remember, noone can register or anything so just wait a little and they’ll have it all sorted. Promise
Well, the site’s up, kinda. All we get, however, is the home page. The links don’t work yet.
New Orleans should have one. I know a couple of people who would love to participate.
Hey Scott,
I’m interested in taking part in the photo walk but as your blog states it’s down right now. Is there a photo walk going on in Richmond, VA and also are you ever going to do any seminars or training in the Richmond or Washington D.C. area? I love your blog and your books are great. I am trying to learn as much as I can about photography and anything you can tell me to help I would appreciate. Thanks, so much for everything you do!
