Congratulations to the Lightroom Team at Adobe for delivering such a kick butt product!!!! I’m psyched!

Eagerly awaiting your LR2 book, Scott, from Amazon.com…
In the meantime, running LR2. on Dell Optiplex Gx745 with 2.13GHz, 3GB ram, XP2002-SP2. Hardwire network to ReadyNAS box.Shooting D300+S5 raw.
I am unable to perform more than 2 functions at one time and at times, get a msg of uncompleted export due to ‘not enough memory’.
Ready to move 3 systems downline here and add a new graphics station.
I wondered if you could tell me what would be a dream PC right now. Should I change os to Vista since XP only allows 4gb, useable 3 and even less allocated to LR? What is good ram, processor, etc for maximizing LR functions? Perhaps you would direct me to what to read about that? I’ve been looking around.
Grateful in advance, Laura
Before Lightroom I have about 10,000 digital images on external hard drives. Should I import these photos into lightroom. If yes how should I go about this. The photos are stored by date with photoshop edits in the same folder.
I need to know if photoshop element 7 or photoshop lightroom 2 will be better for amateur photographer, taking picture of lifestyle photogrpahy, babies, kids and having them post processed for canvas or fine art paper mount!?!?!?!?
Hi Scott-
I’ve read all of your books and absolutely love them - kudos to you.
I really like LR2 except for the fact that my prints do not match what I see on my monitor.
I calibrate my monitor (iMac 24″) and use the drivers from Canon (my printer is a Canon iP4000R), but my prints still come out dark and with a color cast to them.
Have you heard this complaint from others?
Do you have a solution?
Thanks-
Dan
I have LR 2, Windows XP, Epson 2880. My monitor is calibrated. The image in LR I want to print is just the way I want it. When I print the picture in LR it does not print what is on my screen. I have followed your instruction in the LR 2 book to the letter. I know the problem is in LR because if I export the picture to Windows and print it, the picture is printed just the way it appears in LR. I did turn off the color management and am using Epson paper and ink and the correct profile. Any ideas, I have been working on this for almost two weeks and no solution. Any ideas. Thanks.
How does the program work with a server? in case that i’m going to use several computer with the program conected to the same folder, it’s that possible?? or is work only with one computer?? because, does the lightroom create a folder wich name is “lightroom” and is inside in the “My pictures” folder and contains a file called lightroom 2 catalog and also Lightroom 2 Catalog.lrcat.lock, what it’s that about? someone can explain me please, because, i need know if is going to work as well with the server (it’s around 28.000 pictures that i’m working on it)
