Khalid,

Scott might be too busy to reply for a while, so I'll throw in my opinion. If you are shooting in a studio-like environment, you'll be better off spending your money on a 540 EX than getting a new camera. You also will want to continue learning about lighting. kelbytraining.com is an excellent source. If you don't have the money, youtube is an acceptable option : ).

Dear Most respected MR. Scott, best whishes fot this year, I want to wish you excellent health as well as wealth, you are the most intellectual person, and the best author.
Please believe me I really admire you and I am very very big fan of you'r online tutorials and impressive books.
It will be a honour to me if I can be you'r student and I'd love to join u with all my heart to learn efficiently and faster about all you'r unique tips and hints in the world of Photography. Just in front of my desktop laying you'r wonderful and the best book till now named the Adobe Photoshop CS4 book for digital Photographers, edition 2009.
I am born in Belgium, the centre of the world if you see this on the map, a population of 10.7 million. My father is also known as the best prosewriter, and had written more then 10 books till now about religion, and is also known as the Tongue of East. Is there any day site which I can ask you'r some questions about flitsfotoghraphy, because it's hardly to find the right necessary advice. recently I've opened a studio, called Sidra Fotostudio and I am still using CANON EOS 350 D, it was a revolutionary camera, as you remember whith the right 8 MP and I am still using it every day. But my question is, should I invest thousand and thousand Euro's in new camera's, for example, Sony ALPHA 850 or Canon 7 D and so on...
Or should I simple use the same camera, but buy a better lense with a flash on it, speedlite 540 EX. The second question I also want to buy a portable studio for all prefessional shoots, like a wedding, portret, glamour foto shoots.
But the only problem is that I really don't know how to make wonderful shoots using studio lamps on the location and how to shoot, using the best ISO rates, soft-boxes...

I don't want to spend a lot of money, because I don't have hundred customers, it's my new beginning, but I'll do my best to give my best foto snaps to them.

Please advice me what to do?

Thanks in advance

Warm regards,

Khalid Z.

Scott, I've been working with continuous lights for the past few years and I really want to purchase strobes for my studio. I would love to know what you recommend I really need some help quickly. I will be photographing a one year old soon who probably will not be sitting still and I need to use a faster shutter speed then I have been using with my continuous lights. Please help me. I value your suggestions greatly. Also, do you know where I could get them quickly? Thanks.

@Dermot Murphy: My wife has just purchased LR 2. She tells me that in LR 2 you can embed a Collection within a Collection Set, and Collection Sets within other Collection Sets to several levels. That is equivalent to creating multiple level sub-collections in LR 1. Have you tried doing that in LR 2?

Hey Scott,

Great lead shot! Slightly off topic question: I was looking at your "gear page" and noticed it says you have a "D3s". Does that mean you have more than one D3, or are you test driving one of the "rumored" D3s prototypes?

I'm also curious why you would use your D300 for the class when you have the D3(s).
