Scott,

I agree with Doug – what you and your organization do on a daily basis has forever changed this industry. We create and do business differently based on your recommendations. I hope we are all doing better with your input.

Now, I do understand that the recent PsW/LV is a HUGE undertaking which I get to appreciate every time you come to Boston (thanks for coming in Spring 2009!) However, (you knew there was one coming) could you give us a hint as to the ship date of your book from the NAPP coffers? I ordered a signed copy and know that may take a little longer – willing to wait in Boston – don’t get writer’s cramp!

What I really hope is that by writing this, it will be in my mailbox today!

Andrew: I agree it is a minor issue… but silence is deafening and making it a larger one. The issue for me is how you do business. I appreciate everything that Scott and his team do and continue to do. I had been recently trying to decide whether to keep my membership in NAPP since I am using Capture NX2 to post process more frequently. I have both of Scott’s Digital Photography Books and the CS3 Seven Steps and find them very useful. And I did order the Lightroom book from Amazon.

If I hadn’t been traveling and had seen the Kenya post in time, I would have gladly purchased – and waited – for that copy. I think a lot of this blog readers admire and respect acts like that and the photowalk.

Bottom line, this is bad service and leaves a question in some people’s mind about motive. Two things that, for me, make me decide not to “reward” the practice. I’ll continue to purchase products as they fit my needs, but most likely at retail.

On the 9/15 telllarry from the Napp home page, he has seen copies of the LR2 book in the shipping department. Yes, it is confusing……..

I agree with Doug on all points, considering that NAPP provides lots of resources for those of us that are not members (Photoshop User TV, Photoshop Killer Tips, LightRoom Killer Tips, to name a few). I am a transportation planner (photography is my hobby), and I quite honestly wish that the professional organizations that I am a member of did as much work as Scott and the rest at NAPP do for the industry and for their members.

…I guess I’m not in that much of a hurry, since I could probably get it at the local Barnes & Noble or Borders before Amazon could get it here. I guess I just can’t see any situation where getting the book is so critical. I can understand the importance, but not the urgency. I just don’t see how I could come to canceling a NAPP membership over what is really a few very minor issues (2 weeks and $10).

I also bought one of the copies that support the orphanage in Kenya, and those are signed copies… I feel sorry for Scott’s hand. He’s going to have one massive case of writer’s cramp!

I pre-ordered the book more than two months ago from Amazon and as of this morning (Monday) it still hasn’t shipped despite being “in stock” last week.

All of Scott’s books have been jammed packed with information that doesn’t go stale. For me, it’s worth the wait. Yeah, Amazon gets it faster, but I guess I’m just loyal to the man and the organization that writes them.

Scott, thanks for writing the most easy to read books that are filled with the most useful information.

I’m looking forward to reading yet another great book to aid in my workflow.

Cancelled my order and NAPP membership. I expected to support both by placing my order here and maybe even receive the book early. But when Amazon is cheaper – after the NAPP “discount” AND in stock….. sorry Scott.

I appreciate your comments Doug E. about supporting the “little guy”, but I think William Chin’s comments are more in line with my view. It is a service that is being offered here. I think waiting 3-4 weeks is pretty patient.
