Are the photo walk leaders going to get some notification when their copy of the Lightroom 2 book ships? I still haven't received my copy, so I'm hoping it just hasn't shipped yet.

Hello Everyone,
i have a question regarding Lightroom 2,
i am a student still, and i have purchased the Education copy.
after importing the photos, and do some editing, and if i need to edit in photoshop, i go under Photo>edit in>... the only the thing highlighted is "Edit in Adobe Photoshop CS3", the others are grayed out.

Is it because i am using the Educational version? if not, what would be the reason?

thank you so much for your help

Scott:

I LOVE LOVE LOVE your new book! I just shot a pretty important shoot (for me, at least) and the pages are already looking torn and tattered. Such a great reference manual. It's extremely easy to locate answers to my questions, and I can't thank you enough for this! I'm sure it will be another best seller to add to your library!!!! Thanks, loads!

I absolutely love Lightroom, but I have to admit that I downloaded the 2.1 yesterday and it crashed this morning - one of those crashes that corrupts the catalog so that it's unrecoverable. Not a big deal since im religious with backing up, i just opened the last backup. But i was wondering if this happened to anyone else. I also started using a LaCie rugged drive to store all my photos recently - they're supposed to be great, so i find it hard to believe that could have contributed, but if anyone else has had that experience, i'd appreciate your take! Thanks!

Seriously though, im in love with Lightroom and would never stop using it!

The more I read the more confused I get. I tried Lightroom in Beta version last year and decided I would stay with Photoshop. Then Lightroom 2 was released and all the buzz seemed to say it is great and the new features seemed to address things I had found lacking. Then I read a comment posted today and it talks about crashing, etc. I understand Lightroom doesn't replace Photoshop but I would like a faster method of organizing, and developing the majority of photos that don't need special attention in Photoshop. Are you now favoring Lightroom over Bridge, Camera Raw and Photoshop for those tasks? Of course, that is today's question, tomorrow it will probably all change with Adobe's pending announcement on Photoshop.

Anyone interested in reading a gushing review of the Canon EOS 5D Mark II should head over to co-Pulitzer Prize winning photographer Vincent Laforet's blog (http://blog.vincentlaforet.com/).

Vincent got to borrow a pre-production version for a weekend and independently produced a movie using the 5D Mark II which Canon will be hosting within the next day. Smugmug is hosting a behind the scenes video that he shot while making the movie.

Vincent feels that this camera will change the face of photography and how photographers work going forward and if there is any photographer with the credentials and forsight to make this prediction it is Vincent Laforet. To back up what he feels, the 1Ds and 1D Mark III shooting professional has pre-ordered four 5D Mark II's!

So how are you (and everyone else feeling about LR) Seems to be there's been a lot of backlash from people who have had nothing but crashing and hassles with 2.0. I know it's a bit negative, but I wish you would have addressed it a little more :)

On any case the jury is out on 2.1, but it seems like the brushes may be a bit smoother, and stability may have improved a bit. Time will tell...
