Ben--I've not yet had the privilege to attend one of your workshops, but I do own several of your books. They are tremendous values, each and every one, but the most valuable commodities that you have to offer are free....Inspiration and Hope!

I'd write more, but I have an overwhelming desire at this moment to grab my Trekker and head for the hills. :)

Thanks...Mitch.

[...] My Evolution as a Photographer “I forced myself to take notes after every shooting session to make sure I was learning each time I was behind the camera. For instance, when I shot birds in flight, I noted the shutter speeds that produced sharp images and which ones produced an artistic motion blur. I’d stay at the same location shooting day after day until I started to capture very usable images by evolving my technique based on those shooting notes. I’d use headings for the type of subject matter I was shooting and would be sure to write down a list of what worked and what didn’t.” [...]

Thanks Ben, very interesting post that shows your absolute passion for photography and its peripherals. I guess most of 'us' would be afraid of making such an incredible commitment, ie selling your home and moving into a 'very nice', I might add, motorhome, and whether we would be able to make a good enough living from such a move. Fear of the unknown I guess....

Fantastic story Ben.....

Ben, as always what a great week. I really found your 1am blog entry well done for writing it in the morning! For those of you reading, Ben, Hal and I stayed up late shooting some light painting at our photography studio at The Lepp Institute. On his way out he mentioned he had to write a blog entry for Scott and I assumed it would be on a photoshop tip or trick! This was much more inspiring and timely.
Again Ben, thank you for a great week of instruction and inspiration we can't wait to see you again here next year!

Seeing that Sinclair station brought back memories of the many summer's my Mom & I traveled via bus and/car from California to Georgia in the late 50s, early 60s, the majority of that time we were on Route 66. I can't wait to see Ben's book. I really love the pictures he takes. I too feel like what can I offer to photography since all the unique pictures seem to have been taken already. But it is people like Ben who inspire me to keep trying and traveling. Thanks for introducing me to him & his photography!

[...] Scott Kelby’s guest blogger this week is from one of my all-time favorite Photoshop Instructors, Ben Willmore. The guy’s just brilliant. But what makes him really special is his graciousness and willingness to share his knowledge without sounding superior. If you ever get the chance to check out one of his seminars, Do It! You’ll learn so much about Photoshop it’ll blow your mind. Anyway, check out his post on Scott’ blog here. [...]

So I enjoyed your short story about life on the road. Maybe it is time for you to "evolve" even more and write a book, with pictures, about your travels. That way I can live the adventure too without selling my house.

Good Job!
