For shooting sporting events, the best ball head on the planet pales compared to a gimbal mount. I got one for shooting tennis tournaments and equestrian events, and it made an incredible difference in panning ease. The big one goes directly on a tripod (http://www.tripodhead.com/products/wimberley-main.cfm). The smaller one attaches to a head's quick release mount (http://www.tripodhead.com/products/sidekick-main.cfm).

Otherwise great collection as usual and love that tripod!

Love it!

Hey Scott, have you seen this site:

http://www.redefine-christmas.org/

it's all about making donations to charities on your choice in other people's names....I thought it was a great idea when i first heard about it.

I wanted to pass it along as you have mentioned a couple times in the past about donating to charities and organizations that mean a lot to you.

I feel your site is one I can depend on to keep up with this fast paced constantly evolving industry. We as individuals have the power to make the right decisions for ourselves whether to buy or not to buy based upon our needs. So, please keep the information flowing – I want to be informed

Hi Scott,

I have been reading/using your books since you started writing them and own most of them and refer back to them quite often. I've bought items based on your recommendations, (the really right stuff ball head, and that thing, along with the gitzo traveller tripod is amazing), traveled with your recommended lenses, although I don't agree with your 18-200 nikon lens as your travel lens. (it's not my first choice), I like the 24-70 and a 50mm 1.4 for travel.

I've been reading your blog since the beginning and I read it every day. I love your energy and excitement everyday and can't imagine what it's like to be you. I wouldn't imagine that you'd ever have to watch what you eat, you must burn calories just by living life at your pace.

But lately, every time I go on your blog, and I know I don't have to read it if I don't want to, but it seems like it's lately (except for the guest blogs) always about buying things. Books and software and equipment, buying, buying and more suggestions for buying.

The economy is a mess and probably many of the readers here can't go out and spend as much $ as they used to.

So, I'm wondering if you could maybe give suggestions about how to use what we have, and take a break from selling for a little while. Or, more inspirational suggestions. I love those entries and links to other photographers work and the guest blogs or more discounts!

I think you are the best and I love this blog and everything you offer, just would like fun suggestions working with what I own, which is all the best stuff, d700 and great lenses. I haven't decided if upgrading to cs4 is necessary for me and feeling pressure to do it here, but I don't know if I need it.

I know I can just sit back and enjoy the blog for a while, but I think I am feeling just a bit sensitive to how difficult it must be for many photographers during this unprecedented financial time.

Hey Scott,

I watched PSTV yesterday. I was in stitches the whole time. Did you say you would buy everyone who watches it a REALLY nice tripod in a leather case?

Excellent show,
