Hi folks: here’s what’s up:

  • Photographer Alan Hess from ShotLivePhoto.com sent me the photo above (click for a larger version) which he took of Nikon shooters on the sidelines of the San Diego Chargers vs. Detroit Lions game late last year. Thanks Alan, for sharing your photo with my readers (and check out Alan’s fantastic concert photography if you get a chance–here’s the link).
  • When I was checking out Terry’s video on Elements 6 for Mac yesterday, I wound up over at Terry’s Tech Blog, where he’s got a great in-depth review of Wacom’s new lightweight 12″ Cintiq 12WX and if you’ve ever dreamed of having a Cintiq, this is your chance. By the way, Corey Barker’s been using one here in his office, and I got to play around with it, and I’ve got to tell ya—it absolutely rocks! Here’s the link to Terry’s review.
  • Want some Tuesday photo inspiration? Check out the photography of UK-based photographer Tim Wallace. Make sure you visit his Automobile portfolio. Amazing stuff. Here’s the link.
  • This is a bit off topic, but if you’re thinking about whether to go BlueRay or HD-DVD, check out DV-Confidential’s report on the topic right here.
  • “The Blog Critic.com” did an in-depth review of my new book, “The Digital Photography Book, Volume 2″ and you can read it online right here.
  • Looks like it’s going to be a big day for Apple, as Steve Jobs kicks off the Macworld Expo out in San Francisco with his highly anticipated Keynote presentation. Should be a fun day!

Have a great one everybody. See ya tomorrow! :-)

I got my autographed copy of your new book, Digital Photography Vol 2, in the mail yesterday. I was so excited as this is the first thing I have ever won! Great book. . . thanks again.

      Scott,
Wanted to mention that I got around to posting a review of your 7 Point System for Adobe Photoshop CS3 book, complete with a nice after photo. The long and short of it is yes, the 7 Points have made a big difference in my work, and I’d recommend it to anybody looking to add a logical system of post processing their images in Adobe Photoshop.

      My Site is www.neutralday.com

But you can link to the full review here: 7 Point System Review

      Thanks for the book,

      Hi Scott,
I have a Canon. I only wish I could actually get onto the sideline. I sure wish it was the Bucs VS Cowboys next week. Go Packers.

      See ya,

      Mike

      Hi Scott–

I’m hoping to find out more info about the photo you published today of the photographers on the sideline of the Chargers vs Lions game. One of them looks like Adobe engineer Don Cone. Don worked on Photoshop Elements in the San Diego office. He was a big Chargers fan and a Nikon shooter. Unfortunately Don died from cancer about a year and a half ago. That throws the timeline off of you note. But that looks like Don. Any chance you can help me track that down with Alan? I’ll be e-mailing him as well.

      Thanks for all the support,
      Geoff Scott

      Hi Scott,
Love your blog. Any thoughts on “paralysis by analysis”? I take hundreds of photos a week and I find that with the 7 point system even the worst ones are rescuable. Surely you must deal with similar issues with all the images you take. It’s often hard deciding when enough is enough.
      Thanks,
      Martin
      PS Go Packers!!

      Hi Scott:

I just want to let you know that I recieved my Digital Photography Book Volume 2 yesterday and have almost read the whole thing! Thanks for making a book that is easy for a visual learner to actually understand. I am also on Lesson 5 of your 7 Point System and have learned more from that then any other book because it is repetitive and helps you remember the steps by doing it over and over.

      You are the best!!

      Scott,

Just got my Digital Photography book Vol 2 today, here in the UK.

Only had a quick look through so far and it’s fantastic, more of the same in Vol 3 please. I even found the links ;-)

Looking forward to David Ziser’s courses coming up. I bought his Digital Wake Up call after seeing you plug it on PSU-TV and he took my knowledge to another level. Are you planning to have any of these new online courses available on DVD to buy?

Only one slight gripe and that it sometimes takes a while to get the video clip down. I’m on 4 Meg broadband.

Keep up the good work though.

As an avid (but amateur) photographer and digital scrapbooker, that Wacom makes me wish I married rich. :D Luckily for working stiffs like me, they’ve put out budget-friendly versions too!

      Hi Scott,
I just wanted to drop a quick note in and say thank you for the mention of my work for inspiration. My business is just 8 months old now and I’m pushing it as hard as I can to make a sucess of things as a commercial photographer. I’m starting to be recognised mostly for my automitive work and like anything in life I suppose if you give it 110% the rewards hopefully come in time. Thanks again for the mention I feel very honoured.

Scott - On a personal note I’ve just started shooting on the D3 and have I fairly good personal shot of myself working with an Aston Martin if you’d be interested in putting something on your blog?, please mail me if you’d like to take this idea forward and keep up the great work, its been an inspiration for me.
