Hope everybody had a great weekend. Here’s what’s up:

  • Last week I mentioned the site of UK photographer Tim Wallace, and pointed you to his amazing automotive photography. Well, Tim dropped me a line to introduce himself, and in our exchange of emails, I learned that he’s only been shooting cars for the past nine months. Talk about having a knack for something! Tim sent me this shot of his on-location gear (click on it for a larger view), and I saw he’s shooting the same Elinchrom Ranger Kit I use—I knew I liked this guy). If you didn’t get a chance to check out his work last week, here’s the link again.
  • The Digital Artistry blog did a quick review of the new Volume 2 of my book, The Digital Photography BookHere’s the link to see what he has to say.
  • Don’t know if you caught last week’s episode of Layers TV, but they had David Ziser on as a guest, and he did a tutorial on how to shoot window light portraits, and it’s very cool. You can watch it online right here.
  • If you got two minutes, check out this very cool design oriented blog called Creative Techs (here’s the link), and they offer “Left Brain Support for Right Brain Professionals.” I just ran across it two weeks ago, and I’m diggin’ it big time!

That’s it for now. I’ve got some cool stuff coming this week, so I hope I’ll see you back here! Have a great Monday (hey, that’s an oxymoron!)

    Scott,

Just wanted to drop you a quick note about The Digital Photography Book, Vol. 2. I just got my copy Saturday and I finished it yesterday! I really liked the way that you incorporated the intro into the book itself as you mentioned you had done. I’ve always read your books cover to cover, but I don’t think anyone can escape the important details in this book! Great job! As always, the book was full of great content and tips. I’ll be posting my thoughts about it on my blog this week. Hope you have a great week!

    Best regards,

    Stephen

That quick review of your book really was quick. One sentence!
and not even a run on sentence at that. :)

    Hi Scott,

Always enjoy Photoshop Insider as part of my morning read. Great content on the blog as well as your books and PSuserTV. The humor makes it all the more accessible :-) Keep up the good work. Value added!

    Scott,

Quick comment/question about your book. 1) Comment - I as a 19 year pro learned a few things in your book, proving you can teach an old dog new tricks! — Excellent work man! 2) Where did you get you laptop stand from when shooting connected?

I wonder if Mr. Wallace got to drive that DB5? If so I’m jealous. I would love to own one (with the ejector seat of course)!)

    Scott,
I found (finally!) and read DPB II while it snowed in Jackson, MS, of alll places, this weekend.Great work.
My new Nikon D300 seems to have developed a glitch. When I plug in the GPS it transports me across the country but it won’t bring me back. The first time it happened I didn’t have my wallet and it was hell getting home. Do you know of anyone else who has experienced this? Is there a way to pre-program where you go? Does the D3 do this, too?
    Thanks,
    Martin

    Hello Scott,
I have made terrific use of your seven points book and thank you for developing such a consistent workflow.

Lately, I have been re-working my old black and white negatives and was wondering if you have any suggestions/tips/workflow for enhancing these in photoshop, camera raw, lightroom, etc?

    Thanks
    Roger
