My Training Sessions at Photoshop World
Jan. 22
1:48 am
I’m teaching three sessions at the upcoming Photoshop World Conference & Expo (March 25-27, 2009, Hynes Convention Center, Boston, Massachucetts), and I wanted to give you a little background on my sessions.
- Portrait Retouching, Part 1
I did this class for the first time at Photoshop World Las Vegas and it was a huge hit with the crowd. In fact, the #1 comment about the class was they wanted “more!” So, this time in Boston I’ve expanded it to two parts, so I can cover much more ground. I’ll be showing some of the latest Photoshop techniques for making people look their very best, and I’ll be including some more advanced techniques as well. - Portrait Retouching, Part 2
The first half of this class picks up where Part 1 left off, with a new batch of retouching techniques. Then, in the second half of the class, we’ll pull the whole thing together as I stage a live studio portrait shoot right in the class, and then I’ll take those shots straight into Photoshop where you’ll see the entire retouching process from start to finish. We’ll use the techniques you’ve learned in part 1 and part 2, and you’ll experience right along with me, how to deal with any unexpected retouching challenges. - Creative Print Layouts in Lightroom (or How to show your work in Lightroom)
This session (open to all Photoshop World conference attendees) is part of “The Lightroom Conference at Photoshop World” and in it I’m going to show you how to use Lightroom’s Print module to design some really creative, clever, and fun layouts that will make your work, and your client’s work, really stand out. Once you see what can be done (and how easy some of these layouts are), it will change the way you show and present your work from now on.
So, if you’re going to Photoshop World, I hope you’ll check out some of my sessions. If you’re not registered yet, you can sign up right here. Hope I’ll see you there!

Scott, last year there was some provision for people to follow on the web the events of Photoshop World. I hope there will be similar this time. The chances of some of us overseas NAPP members being able ever to afford to get to the USA are becoming even slimmer with depreciating currency exchange rates (yikes)!
I’d love to be there; the new Lightroom sessions sound particularly appealing.
Ho, hum …
Balliolman,
England.
Man, I wish I can attend your LR session. The printing one is something that I’d really like to explore and I’m sure I’ll learn a lot from it.
The LR conference is really something good that you guys added to PSW!
I’m there, see ya!
Hey Harold—-make sure you come up and say “hi” at the conference. I always love meeting folks who read my blog.
See you there!

Looking forward to this year’s PSW. Since it is in my backyard, I will be in attendance.
Also looking forward to rubbing elbows with the world’s most talented at The Estate.

(Boston)
Hi Scott, as always, I wouldn’t miss it! Question – I went to your portrait retouch class in Vegas. Should I just do the Part 2 in Boston? I want to soak in as much new stuff as possible!
Hi Balliolman,
To answer your question, yes.
The Photoshop World blog is live and will be covering the events, posting pictures, and linking to all instructor co-blogging efforts.
Also, if you use twitter, we will once again be using the hashtag, “#psworld.” If you do a search for that hashtag, you’ll be able to follow the “tweets” of everyone in attendance that puts it in their posts.
I know it’s not the same as being there but hopefully it helps. =)
Thank you, NAPP News, I have subscribed to the PSW blog!
Balliolman.
Hey Scott
Yesterday’s blog with Chris was terrific, a hard act to follow
I will be attending Boston in March. Las Vegas last Sep was my first, had so much fun and learned so much that it will definitely not be my last. Looking forward to getting a great bang for my buck and enjoying a great three days (+ pre-con)

Hey!
I wonder how to save a bunch of different layers into separate files in one step.. And if it is possible at all!
Please help me!
Highlight them all and then hit control “G” to group them
File>Scripts>Export Layers to Files.
Scott I won’t be there but in the retouching class what if you had a photoshop T-shirt
and threw it out to the crowd and the first one who caught it you could tell them to throw it to the left or right (depends on the side in which they caught it) and then have that person throw it once more and then bring that random person up for the shoot and retouch. It would just make the class more explosive to really see it done randomly like that. P.S. an let them keep the shirt lol

Andrew you are so right – I didn’t read the question right
Hi Scott,
Unfortunatly, I cannot be at Photoshopworld. However, I ask you to give some thought to adding your ‘Creative Print Layouts in Lightroom’ seminar to KelbyTraining online. I am always in need of print layout ideas and would be very interested to get your insight on the subject.
Thank you.
Scott,
I tried to reach NAPP today but the phones are down. I am new to photoshop but use lightroom all the time. I want to learn more about photoshop but I want really learn what would be the crucial and essential things for me to learn as a photographer. In other words, if I wanted to learn the top 10 things that would make Photoshop work for me as a photographer, what would I have to learn? So what classes at the show would help me with this quest.
Thanks.
