I have the honor of being a guest blogger today. I was told that I could blog about anything I wanted to. I’ve made a video instead of writing. I hope you enjoy this.
Cheers,

The best thing I’ve seen in a long, long time. Thank you, Zack, you’re a true inspiration.
I love learning new techniques, tips, and tricks as much as anyone. I love getting a pat on the back and being told that I’m doing a great job. I love finding inspiration in other people’s work. But this… This goes beyond that.
This… cuts… to the core.
This goes beyond inspirational territory and into that mode of contemplation and reflection on why exactly we are even alive. Are we fulfilling the purpose for which we were set upon the earth to begin with, or are we just wasting it all away by worrying about the trivial, meaningless things in life?
Thank you, Zack, for this wake up call that many of us need so desperately.
You Zack really rocks!!!!
It is the best short in months, better than my least movies I saw.
Thanks you for the inspiration.
Saludos.
Thank you Zack for this. I feel not only inspired but, like this weight of worry that I did not know was there lift off of me. Thank you for being real.
AWE-some! Nailed it Zack!
what i mean to say is that I really appreciate this Zack. I felt as if you were speaking directly to me.
brilliant….
Thank you Zach, thank you.
thank you, zack, for doing this. it was something i needed to see, hear and reflect on today. and i didn’t even know it. i’m so grateful for this. thank you for the inspiration…g.
wow
Soooo kewl. Perfectly made. What will I be thinking when I’m 80 and on my back and can’t speak? Metallica’s “One” video will probably come to mind. Pull the F-ing plug!
New Kelby Training slogan: Kelbytraining- because somedays you suck and need help.
Thanks for a very inspiring video (this deserves the “best of” award in my opinion).
P.S. You left out the part where you were going to tell us how you go the IKEA sticks. Please update. Cheers, -Matt
What an awesome post. This has been one of the most interesting Guest Blog posts yet! Great job!
I’m speechless…more then that. I’m transfixed in a moment of deep stillness that lasts even now and I feel somehow better. I’m no longer the same. thank you…
Wow. Thank you. Really.
I am transfixed … it is relieving to hear someone with Zack’s talent put into words a feeling that is deep inside me, too. Perhaps I didn’t even know it was there. And thank goodness I am not alone in this funk.
Thank you so much Zack for that truly inspirational video. Thank you for verbalizing the fears, the insecurities and even the seasonal depressions that so many of us suffer from in silence.
Hi everybody, please help me! I can’t see the video!!! I tried all of my browsers but no succes. Any suggestions? Thank you very much.
*R*
No words, have to think it all through. Thank you Zack.
I’m in a “I suck” day…
I’m in a “Maybe I’ll suck all my life” moment…
Your words put tears in my eyes.
Patience and perseverance will take me where I want to go.
That… and people like you. Thank for being one of the inspirational souls that make the rest of us suck less.

wow, what can i say. thank you for your post.
your video, this is me, it is your voice but somehow mine, it is your thoughts and also mine. i shoot, i teach, i am successful and busy, and the constant “drive” to find my own art within the commercial busyness sometimes “drives” me mad. but then, something happens, something eye opening… i forget.
i am so focused on what i do today, that i forget what i’ve done yesterday, last month, last year. and this is fantastic. looking back to “where i’ve been”, what i’ve done last year, and the years before (and people thought it was good and even paid me for it), shows me oh so clearly where i am now. how much has changed. how much i have improved. how much i personally have changed, and how this has influenced my work. my wife, my daughter, friends, their views on the world, my journey, my work.
at 42 i have learned my lesson (with many more to come, i’m sure): i don’t have to worry about developing my art, my life, my loved ones, my thoughts, my work, my daily life are creating my art, changing my perspective. how blessed to be in this position, where this journey is even paid by happy, smiling (and returning) customers.
what a beautiful life.
God bless you and your walk Zach
Very, very cool; entertaining and inspirational! Thank you!
respect
Thank you for this Zack.. Thank you..(i would say more but kinda speechless).. truly amazing..
Speechless … totally speechless!!!!! I can honestly say that I’ve not been so transfixed and moved by something before as I was watching Zack’s video. I smiled, I stared, my eyes filled up with water … just so incredibly powerful and so incredibly true.
This video is iconic and needs to be seen by anyone that has ever picked up a camera or indeed anyone who is involved in their own business; I’ve been genuinely moved by this!!!
Thankyou Zack for saying it as it is; thankyou Scott for creating Guest Blogger Wednesday’s and for helping us all to ’suck’ less, and thankyou to Dave Cross for featuring Zack’s One Light DVD on his blog quite some time back … without which I would have never been introduced to such an amazing photographer.
You guys ROCK!!!!!
I have the latest flash player installed but for some reason Zack’s video is choppy/lagging so it can’t be watched properly….could anyone help?
Try to let the video load all the way. Press play and then pause it and after it’s done loading all the way press play again that may help.
Well done. What is important…
Being past the “mid-point” in my life, when I look back with regret of missed opportunities, my thoughts go immediately to “people/relationships” – NOT missed opportunities related to my work.

Your one statement reminded me of the saying – “Being labeled ‘Talented’ means we survived being untalented.”
Wow, it seams that Ikea sticks have made all the difference
Photography felt so real this time. And I still suck…
The best guest blogger. Ever. Period.
Thank you, Zack. I’m going to go suck a little less, now.
Terrific. Thanks, a million…
Amazing Zack, very moving. Thanks very much for what you do for all your readers and viewers (yes I have your DVDs, only wish I had got them earlier!).
I’m sitting here, with my high intensity light on. It is dark and gloomy outside.
I’m grinning. Happy.
Zack, that was a cool, thought-provoking presentation. Thank you.
Man, this *is* ART.
Thanks Zack and thanks Scott for your great work and vision.
wow. thank you ! i actually copied some of this stuff down in a notepad to read it later when i hit a wall !
I am still silent, minutes after seeing this video…
Thank you, Zack, for bringing us back with our feet on the ground. For this moment of reflection and inspiration, for reminding us of what really matters in life.
I wish someday we all can come closer to your ability to express your inner feelings.
Wow on a personal level that was just what I needed to hear. Thanks for sharing that with us. I hope you get to have that conversation with your Dad also. Thanks again.
First time I’ve commented on a guest blogger here, but I just had to. This was SO inspirational, thank you for your time to make and share this with us.
WoW…
ive been in the dark.. and i havent even touched my camera for so long…
this is truly going to be a turning point…
thank you Zak for this wonderful strong message… very creative and inspiring…
i will work hard suck less…
amazing.
I’m speachless!! one of the coolest videos and guests ever. I think Scott will be picky when he invites guest bloggers next time cause Zack just reset the bar higher. I laughed a lot when he said” We’re gonna talk about photoshop,..etc” I’m sure Zack knows lots of Photoshop but I know he doesn’t like to sound like the expert guy..he mentioned that in his onelight workshop videos.. Thanks Zack and Scott
Such poignant words Zack. The goosebumps are with me long after the video stopped. Thank you!
Zack….if you’re reading this…..THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart. If somebody’s looking for a definition of the term “keeping it real” don’t look any further…..just watch this video.
Zack….your words brought tears to my eyes.
Thank you for expressing what really matters…you are truly inspiring.
Wow, Zack. Words can’t even begin to express just how moving that was. Like someone posted previously, this cuts to the core. I don’t even think you have to be a photographer to be inspired by your short.
Amazing. Simply amazing.
P.S. I’ll be praying for your dad.
Zack – you’re always such an inspiration. Thank you so much for this great video and work of art.
Amazing!! absolutely amazing Zack!
I deeply thank Meg for pushing the right buttons.
I sometimes believe professional photographers always have great ideas, creative shots, and know exactly what will be the perfect photo. I’m very amateur…I only know what I love and once in a while I get lucky! (I love the line that if you throw enough stuff at the wall, eventually something will stick.) It’s good to know we’re all in the same boat, we all get in a funk, we all wonder what we’re doing here.
Thank you for a wonderfully thoughtful beginning to my morning. It wasn’t a downer at all…it was a reality check that we all need once in awhile. And inspiring! Wow!
… deep
Thanks for taking the time for this. This is what it is all about. Hope you get to hear your dad again.
Awesome
…….(speechless)
