My Photography is Featured in the New Issue of Nikon World Magazine
I am thrilled beyond thrilled to announce that there’s a feature article about my photography in the new issue of Nikon World magazine (the spreads are seen above).
Here’s how it came about. I got a call from the Editor of Nikon World a few months back, and he told me he wanted to do a story about my photography. He said he was particularly drawn to my use of color, and wanted to build the story around that. He didn’t want to talk about Photoshop or image editing, just my photography. Of course I was tickled pink, but in our conversation I asked how they came to choose me, and he unknowingly gave me one of the nicest compliments I’ve ever gotten about my photography.
He said he kept hearing about me, or seeing me here and there, but it was always about Photoshop, but then he heard me talking about photography and lighting, and writing books on digital photography, and one day he said to himself, “This guy is Mr. Photoshop, but I wonder if he can actually take a photo?” So he told me he went to my blog, found my portfolio, and said, “Son of a gun—this guy can shoot!” (If you didn’t think “Son of a gun—this guy can shoot” was that great a compliment, you have to hear it from an Editor of a photography magazine. That changes everything!). So, after seeing my photos, he pitched Nikon with the idea of a feature story on my photography, and now here it is (I just got my copy this week!)
I remember a while back seeing a feature story in Nikon World on the work of Landscape Photographer Bill Fortney, with images from his amazing “America From 500 Feet II” project, and thinking, “Wow, Bill’s in Nikon World! How cool is that!” I never dreamed the next year I’d be featured in there, and I am just so honored, and humbled by it. Thanks Barry, and everyone at Nikon World for giving me such a wonderful opportunity (and for making a photographer’s dream come true).

Congratulations, Son of a gun
. Have a great day.
Hey Scott,
Now that’s what I call AWESOME!!!!
Way to go mate … and well deserved.
Best wishes to you and yours,
Glyn
Of course you can shoot! Who else tought us about smart things like “What to do when it’s been ’shot to death’” in their book? I think of that everytime I set up an angle. Congrats on the award for most books sold as well -that’s sayin’ sumthin’! Cheers -M
Son-of-a-gun! Congratulations, Scott!
I have learned a lot from you in terms of photography and not just Photoshop. Thanks for that!
Wow! That’s one peak that is not easy to reach.
Kudos!!
Hey Scott, love, life, and live photography that is you! Why should you not be in every mag! You give us inspiration and good comes to those who give and inspire.
How you and your friends have changed my approach to photography, Wow! I do not know how to thank you.
Keep on doing all you do because we all appreciate it!
Peace Greg!
Hi Scott,
Congrats on that! Must feel great get appreciated beyond photoshop! Perhaps they gonna change your name into Mr. Photo(+shop).
Take care!
Henrik
Congratulations, Scott!
What a thrill.
Best regards from a snowy Sweden.

Simply congratulations on the spread.
Congratulations [again] Scott – been somea month for you!
Nikon world, Time’s Man of the Year next! hehe
wow…great…congrats Scott
CONGRADULATIONS ! , i know i would be excited too
Congrats! Couldn’t have picked a better and more helpful photographer.
I can verify that Scott is quite excited about this accomplishment. Every day for at least a week he would ask me if the magazine had come in yet because he was very anxious to see it. When it did finally come in, he had the look of a kid who just got a new toy, but this is one toy that doesn’t grow old after playing with it for a couple of weeks
. Congratulations, Scott!
Hi Scott! Congratulations, Well deserved.
Congratulations. It is well deserved to be recognized as more than just a Photoshop guy. Keep up the great work. How come they did not work any of your football photography in the spread?
Congratulations! I’ve always been a big fan of your portfolio. Your use of color and shape to share the places you have traveled is amazing. Cheers, Laurel
Scott, What an amazing compliment. How good you must feel. And it is so deserved. Happy Monday.
Congratulations from Norway! You do it like no one else…. Keep it up;)
SK, congratulations on a well deserved accomplishment. That is pretty exciting news.

Scott, how you do as much as you do amazes me anyway; this is just another great step in the right direction. Congratulations, and keep up the good work!
Y’know what I like best about this story? He’s written (and sold) a gazillion books, he’s built (and oversees) a Photoshop empire, and he’s still a kid at heart. Congrats, Scott!
Absolutely marvelous! Huge Congratulations – that is a major milestone, one of many more to come for sure.
Your colors do rock. I’ve always loved that about your work. Congratulations on the article
Congrats! and a well deserved honor. How cool is that!
But… what did he think you did in photoshop?
You’ve got to check this site out – “find the 5 differences in the photos”

Congratulations!
Where have these Nikon guys been hiding for the last few years?
Everybody else knows you’re a kick-butt photographer !!!
See you in Photoshop World FUN !
Ana
Scott…Congrats on your wonderful article. It was great to see how you were recognized for your photography too and not just your photoshop skills. I’m very new to photo editing and was interested in your comment last Friday about Lesa’s book the Missing Manual/Photoshop Bible. I’m just beginning to use Elements and am looking for a book that’s just as comprehensive, but for Elements. Because I teach online and already spend a LOT of time at the computer, having a comprehensive book vs. a video tutorial works best for me. Thanks for you ideas. Karen
That’s is excellent Scott….I always tell my friend you are more than a book worm
Congratulations!
Way Overdue!! You wear so many hats, and I have felt that your abilities have been somewhat overlooked for a long time. . . . this is great. Oh, and apparently having Brad as an assistant doesn’t hurt your rep as a legit photographer!! lol. What’s he charging these days?? ; -)
Congratulations! That IS a thrill beyond a thrill!!! I’m proud for you!
Scott,
Any idea how we can actually subscribe to Nikon World? I’ve tried a number of times over the past year to do so without luck. The phone number on their website has never worked for me and emails have gone unanswered. I figured it had been scrapped but apparently not! I’d still like to subscribe if you have any ideas.
Oh, and congrats on the article. I hope I get the chance to read it.
Bryan

The number on that page is the one I’m referring to, it’s never worked for me.
Congratulations Scott! Those spreads look amazing. You deserve it. Keep on shootin’.
Hey Scott,
What a great achievement. Congrats!
Congrats Scott! Maybe now Joe McNally will ask you to review his portfolio.
Relish in the feeling. Awesome job. Keep inspiring us.
Long overdue and well deserved recognition for your outstanding photo work. However, there should be another spread recognizing your talent in other areas such as portraits, events, sports, etc. Perhaps Nikon will add that to their list next year.
Does this mean you might be adding some Kelby Photo/PS workshops in the future?
Scott,
Of course you can shoot. We all knew that. Congrats Scott. Very well deserved.
Tom
I am not a prophet by no means but I think I can see Nikon making a Camera and naming it the Scott Kelby Edition…..
……woooooo hooooooo!!!!!!!! son-of-a-gun!!!!!
Kelby! Kelby! Kelby! Kelby! Kelby!
That is SOOOO COOL! Congratulations Scott!! You deserve it!
Scott, this may be the time to take all of this photography you have been doing for fun, and make a serious commitment
to working with your camera. You may have a promising future in this field-no more point and shoot is my advise!
We’ll back you up Scott, don’t worry, your a number 1 guy!
Congrats Scott!! way overdue… you deserve every bit of it
A big congratulations.
I had never heard of Nikon World, so I thought it would be inspiring to subscribe to, so I found the magazine on nikonnet, but to my big surprise you have to be from USA or Canada to subscribe, I find that a little funny with a magazine that is called Nikon World.
Regards from Denmark
Congrats! What an accomplishment (and well deserved!) and a great compliment. Awesome!
Congrats! That really is awesome! I have loved learning so much from you about Photoshop, Lightroom, and photography. Along the way I have always loved your photography. It’s great to see you recognized for it!
Awesome!
Congratulations on a well deserved honor!
Barry
also congrats, nice achievement. I also like the interesting blog, which I frequently read. But to be very honest, I think this nikon mag thing was mainly possible because of the name and not the photography.
Thanks a lot Erik: That’s awfully kind of you to say.
-Scott
Well deserved without a doubt! Congrats Scott!
A big hearty congratulations Scott. You are so talented and yet so approachable and funny as all get out. I wish I knew how to get a copy of this magazine so I could add it to my collection. Keep up the great work and please – please – please come back to Connecticut to teach a class this year, it was great last spring!
