Comments in RSS Reader Feeds
Hey guys, Brad here. We’re well aware that many of you (including myself) are getting all of the comments as posts in your Google Reader feed. This is isolated to the Google Reader and isn’t occurring with other RSS feeds. We have not changed any of our settings, nor is this a new “feature.” We are working to try and find a solution. We apologize for the inconvenience and hope that Google will fix this very soon.
Now back to our regularly scheduled programming, featuring Syl Arena!
Update: Thanks to commenters, we’re aware that this isn’t isolated to Google Reader. It seems that unsubscribing and re-subscribing to the feed is working for many, so you may want to give that a try. We’re still working to find a permanant fix, but this might work in the meantime. Thanks for your help and understanding!

I was able to get around this by resubscribing using the Google specific subscribe button on the Feed updates page: http://feeds.feedburner.com/PhotoshopInsider
Thanks, Brad! I noticed it yesterday and thought maybe I’d broken my feed link? Glad to know it’s not me. Appreciate the heads-up! =D
Brad, I solved the problem by unsubscribing and resubscribing to the feed at Google Reader. I don’t know why it worked but it did.
Just to let you know I’ve been getting this with NewsGator also. I’ll try unsubscribing and re-adding your feed.
P.

If you are getting only comments in your RSS reader, try to unsubscribe and re-subscribe using this address: http://www.scottkelby.com/blog/feed We have temporarily disabled the use of Feedburner to publish our RSS feed and will continue to investigate this problem until it is resolved.
Google is currently in the process of migrating all their feeds from Feedburner and this appears to be causing a number of issues (which we hope get fixed soon!)
Sorry Fred but it wasn’t just on Google Reader. I got it in NetNewsWire yesterday and sent you guys a notice through Nancy over Twitter. Luckily though, the re-sub. works perfectly
You got it Erik, it is affecting other RSS clients, I wanted to mainly point out the re-subscribe address but we’re looking into a better solution.
I did the same as others, but only just realized it was a problem for others. I thought it was just me. Strange, but it all works now. I was wondering at first why Scott had written twenty-something posts in one day!
Actually, it’s not just the Google Reader – I’m getting it in the RSS feed in Apple Mail.
I’m also getting this problem using NetNewsWire. Doesn’t seem to be a Google Reader problem…
Well, seeing that I didn’t take any action at all, but I have not received the comments on this post, it seems things have worked themselves out. I’ll admit to being quite puzzled when I first noted the number of unread posts on my reader though
I did see comments pop up once in Safari, but I haven’t seen any reoccurrence. I strenuously urge people not to use Feedburner as it is an exceptionally unreliable feed service. You’re using WordPress, which has its own native RSS service, I suggest you use it rather than Feedburner.
The comments are back in the feed, using Safari, as of 1:45 Central Time.
I am getting the error with NetNewsWire
My copy of MS outlook won’t accept http://feeds.feedburner.com/PhotoshopInsider as a feed.
I noticed this happening with the mint.com blog as well and possibly one more. I’m using NetNewsWire, so it’s something to do with the feed and not the reader. Just wanted to let you know that it’s not just your site that has this problem.
I am using Bloglines for your feed. The feed has renamed itself to:
Comments on: Review: Epson P-6000 & P7000 Photo Viewers
I get all of the regular posts but then below that I get the comments left for the review on the Epson. Unsubscribing and resubscribing did not work for me.
Hey Scott. Adobe may have a fix for your annoying track pad antics on your Macbook Pro when using Photoshop. Posted at John Nack’s site: http://blogs.adobe.com/jnack/2009/02/optional_plugin.html
Here’s link direct to Adobe’s plug-in fix:

hi Scott,
Wasn’t quite sure where to put this question as it doesn’t really fit in with any posts that you’ve done so far… or at least that I could see!
First, thanks for putting so much time into producing a really great blog – it’s one of my ‘if you don’t have time to check’em all, check this one’ blogs on my list. Always something interesting going on over here!
Anyway – to the question… everyone’s abuzz about ‘SEO’ nowadays, and having just re-designed my website with both the back-end (SEO stuff) and front-end (Design) in mind, I wrote a blog post about it:
http://www.orangeblob.com/blog/2009/03/new-website-seo/
By no means are they all my own ideas – I’ve linked to the places and people that gave me a load of them… but I was wondering if you could do a post on SEO / Web Design with your experiences and any tips that you might have please?
thanks again,
tim
