It’s “Guest Blog Thursday” featuring Brad Moore!
Wait, two guest blogs in a row? Well, not exactly.
Scott asked me to write something on his behalf to let you guys know that he can’t post a blog for today. Why, you ask? Because his laptop died last night. A horrible, grueling, painful death… But it will be fixed by the time he does his Portland Lightroom 2 Live Seminar, so that is still on as scheduled. (Did I just hear a huge sigh of relief coming from the West Coast?)
So, let’s see… How about a couple of updates…
The Worldwide Photo Walk Blog (hosted by yours truly) is now up and running! I’ll be doing my best to keep you all up to date on what locations are full, nearing capacity, and just opening, along with any other Photo Walk related news. So, swing by, scroll to the bottom, and check it out!
If you’re following Scott on Twitter, you know he was going to announce the winner of a free pass to his Portland Lighroom 2 Live Seminar soon. But, since he doesn’t have a computer, it’s not looking like that’s going to happen. But I can guarantee this won’t be the last time he does giveaways on Twitter, so if you’re not already following him, it might pay off to sign up and follow
[Speaking of the Photo Walk and Twitter, the official hashtag is #SKphoto.]
That’s it for now. If I know Scott, I’m sure he’ll have a story and lesson from today to share with all of us when he gets back to the blog, so check back later to see what he has to say! Happy Thursday everyone
-Brad

Sometimes I think not being stuck to a computer would be a blessing. Enjoy it while it lasts
If you could Scott, please let us know if it was a human error or a mechanical malfunction, fellow Mac users want to know. Good thing you’ve always got everything backed up!
I’m with Matt…..what happened with the laptop???
Hmm. I was watching last Photoshop User TV podcast and I was thinking that Scott are little bit jealous about Matt Koloskowski new 17″ laptop. But of course he need good reason to explain his wife why he need another laptop. But this is just speculations and conspiracy theory….
Hi Brad,
Maybe you can help. I can’t get a response on my issue.
It looks like I have deleted my page. I was trying to delete the info off the page to start over as some of the info did not make it to the website. Is this something you can help with. Please let me know asap as I want to finish getting it up to the site.
Thanks

Kurt – I just checked on it, and it seems it’s there, just “under construction.” Let me know if there’s another issue going on and I can check with our web team. Thanks!
Scott, Brad,
I was one of the lucky ones to be a Scott’s LR 2 Live yesterday in Denver. He did Great! His computer actually died just after lunch … We all gasped, but he did have a backup computer and within a few minutes had us all back on track! It was just a GREAT seminar and though I’ve been using LR for two years now, I still learned a bunch. Scott, never missed a beat when his computer started crashing … He took it in stride and with a couple of Scott type jokes had us all laughing! He was very available for us to ask questions and almost missed his lunch because of that. All in all it was just a fantastic day!
Thanks Scott, it was a pleasure meeting you in person!
Dennis
Yes, that was a big sigh of relief you heard from the Portland area! I’ve been waiting for this ever since Scott announced the date for the Ptld seminar.
I too attended yesterday’s LR seminar in Denver and concur with Dennis regarding Scott’s outstanding job in handling the Mac meltdown. The seminar was outstanding and I thoroughly enjoyed myself.
Thanks for all Scott and signing my new CS4 Down and Dirty Tricks book.

Scott:
Twitter apps are available for iPhone and Blackberry. No laptop necessary.
wait a minute. Doesn’t he use Mac I thought they don’t get sick or crash or have any of the problems that PC’s do. They lied to me. So why pay all the extra money for a machine that does the same as one for less money.
Well hope he fixes it.
I’d love to hear what went wrong…..I have the same one Scott does!….I’d like to avoid the same fate if I can.
Joe
I was at the Denver seminar yesterday. Not sure what happened to his laptop, but he did use the word “brick”! Great seminar by the way – catch it if you can (LR2 Live). He does live shoots and takes the images he just shot through LR into PS and out to print all right there in the seminar.
I’ve watched Scott for years on Kelby Training and Photoshop User TV, etc but found him to be really entertaining live. I have never laughed out loud so many times, or so hard at a seminar – ever! I did not see anyone falling asleep either. It was just super! even with the technical difficulties (audio problems, computer issues, etc). Scott thinks on his feet better than most.
To Robert: Macs are computers just like PC’s and they do have harddrives in them, which do fail (not a matter of if but when). However, that said the things you hear are all true (long time PC user here who switched to Mac in 2006 and never looked back).
Hi Brad,
I’ve noticed in, in my area at least, that the Photo Walk leaders have not posted any contact info to reach them. In the Greenport, NY one (which I am considering) the leader suggests a time, but adds that if we would prefer a different time to let him know. Not sure how one would let him know though.
More importantly, I signed up for one Photo Walk in Coney Island, NY and am now seeing a few others that may interest me more and may want to switch. If I decide to switch, I have not way of letting the Coney Island leader know that I will not be attending. I would feel bad if it ends up filling up and I prevent somebody else from taking the spot.
Any suggestions? Maybe a required contact field on the leader’s setup page for each Photo Walk?
Thanks!
Rob – Our web team is “currently working on a way for the leaders to interact with their own attendees and add/remove users as necessary. This feature will hopefully allow the leader to be more involved in removing attendees, adding attendees, managing their own waiting list, etc…”
Hope that helps!
Brad,
That would be really great. I feel like we need a way to communicate with the attendees. Personally, i’d just like a way to bea ble to personally welcome each one through email and give them more information about the walk than just what’s on the webpage.
Thanks,
John Swincinski

Those of us showing up at the Seminar in Portland tomorrow know that Scott could give us our money’s worth simply talking about LR off of the cuff.
Brad,
Are you leading the Boston photowalk? I thought you were going to be in Tampa. You’ve got a great website. love it.
janet
Nope, that’s this guy right here (http://bostonist.com/profile/p0larbare), who is also named Brad Moore. He writes for the Bostonist, and we got to meet him at Photoshop World. Really nice guy! Should be a good walk (it’s almost full!)
I know this is really late but I found this site that is pretty cool. Its a pano that is 1474 megapixels at Obamas inauguration:
http://www.davidbergman.net/blog/2009/01/22/how-i-made-a-1474-megapixel-photo-during-president-obamas-inaugural-address/
The hashtag link didn’t work. I would love to know the hashtag because I’ve been tweeting about it (and recruited a couple of twitter friends to join me on my walk)!
Sorry, the Photo Walk website is constantly evolving, so what was on that page has become part of the sidebar on the site. If you click the link again, or just go to any page on the site, scroll down until you see it on the right side. Thanks for the heads up!
Something tells me that Scott’s next post is gonna be a duzzey!
Mac is much expensive then PC.
