Photo Walk Update (and Prize News)
Just a few quick updates:
Peachpit Press Rocks!
First, I want to give some big love to the people who helped me launch this whole Photo Walk in the first place, and who have become one of the key forces behind this entire event, Peachpit Press (link). They are the publishers of all my books, and they’re providing each Photo Walk leader with a free copy of my soon-to-be-released book, “The Digital Photography Book, Volume 3″ and they’re providing a copy to the winner of each local walk around the world. As things stand now, they’ll be shipping more than 2,000 free copies of the book all around the world, and I just can’t thank them enough for their gracious support, and for their overall commitment to just make great books. It’s an honor to have them so involved in this event, and to have them as my publishing partner. Thanks Nancy, Scott, Sara, Ted, and everyone at Peachpit and Pearson Education worldwide.
More great Prizes from our New Sponsor: Think Tank Photo
I’m just tickled to welcome Think Tank Photo (the people who make the best camera bags on earth) as an official sponsor, and they’re not only giving an Airport Security rolling bag (the same bag I use) to the Grand Prize winner, but each of the 10 finalists will get a Think Tank Modular Belt System. Whoo Hoo!!!
Now ’bout a Drobo, too!
The folks over at DataRobotics have also sweetened the Grand Prize pool because now the Grand Prize winner will also get a Drobo (the automated storage solution I use for my own photo library).
The Prize List is Insane!
The list of finalist prizes, and the Grand Prize list (shown above) is getting longer and longer. Just take 10 seconds and look above at what the Grand Prize winner gets. It’s an incredible list! Here’s the link to see what the finalists get as well.
Coming up on 20,000 walkers!
We now have nearly 20,000 photographers signed up for walks in over 900 cities around the world. Wanna come with us? Here’s where to sign up for the walk nearest you.
That’s it for now, folks. Hope you’ll be walking with us next month on Saturday the 18th.

The prize list is amazing! What an astonishing array of must-have photography goodies; the winner will want for nothing to take their images to the next level!
Great work, Scott, your sponsors have come up trumps!

WOW! The prizes are amazing…can’t wait for the walk!
Yikes! What a great list of goodies for the winners! Some lucky folks are going to be really thrilled. Thanks Scott (and your team) for pulling this all together. I’ll be at the Denver downtown photo walk!
Thanks again for all you do for us!
Dennis
The link to Think Tank is wrong. The hyperlink is thinktalkphoto.com and it gets you nowhere
Thanks for the heads up. I just fixed it.

wow.. what a prize list… I just hope Oslo-Norway will be up and running soon.. It says it is still under constuction.
Scott, thank you so much for organizing this wonderful event. The prizes are indeed wonderful, but I think that some of the friendships that can come out of something like this are even more wonderful. I am so looking forward to this event – not so I can take the winning shot and bring home the loot, but so I can meet some great people who love photography and not only have a blast shooting with them July 18th – but in the future as well.
Just a great list of prizes Scott. Wow!
I met a lot of great people last year, we’ve kept in touch, and now we get to do it all again. We’ve got some new folks coming to the Prescott walk this year, and I’m looking forward to seeing what folks take away from this walk. Thanks for pulling together such a cool event!
Hey Scott, Thanks for the thanks! We love working with you too!: )
We are looking forward to the PhotoWalk . . .the Peachpitters will be heading to China Camp in Marin.
Have a good one!
I am so bummed that I had to withdraw from the the Ybor City Photowalk. I discovered that I will have to be out of town that weekend. I did, however, notify the Photowalk site manager so he could open the spot up for someone else. These Photowalk slots are such a hot item it would have been bad form to just not show up.
Have fun everyone who gets to go.
Dennis
I am sooo jealous.. I hope next year you can make it a sunday, (or any day that isn’t saturday) event. Please….
In Episode 14 of D-Town TV you advertise your Photo Walk as a “social event” that gets people with the same interests together for a fun time. However, with all of these prizes it looks as though you have turned this event into a competition. I think I’ll sit it out this year.
What a great prize package.
Last year I went on a photo walk and got to meet a lot of great photographers. This year I am leading a photo walk (which filled up today) and I can’t wait. For those who only think it is about the prize, you are looking at this event all wrong. It is about photographers getting together to discuss, share, learn, teach, shoot, have fun, meet new people, and then maybe for some it is about trying to win a prize.
I believe that your odds at this point are 20,000 to 1 to win the grand prize. I feel very sorry for Scott and the crew who will have to go through the finalist images.
Alan
The prize list is incredible. As a leader (Hartford, CT) I’m jeleous. You should give away prizes for the best leader photo as well. I am so looking forward to leading the walk.
Scott, My plans have changed do to the health of my farther. So I will not be attending the photowalk in Athens Georgia as I had planned. I checked the list for my local area and saw nothing in 200 miles from me. I live near one of the most beautiful areas in the USA. I live less than 15 miles from White Sands Monument. I would like to host a photowalk there. I know that the deadline came and went. But, at that time I was planning on being out of state and and attending another walk. So if you find it in yourself to let this walk in and push it on you site and the photowalk site I would be honored to host it. You can contact me at my email above. I looked for a better way to contact you and didn’t find one.
I just looked at my author and users page for the Hartford CT walk and I have 58 registrants. Is this ok as I have 4 others on a waiting list. Can I have them sign up as well?
It’s really too bad that i can’t attend the Worldwide Photowalk in Munich, Germany as i’ve got to fulfill other obligations. But nevertheless i ordered one of the T-Shirt to show my support
