Important Photo Walk Update!
Hi Gang:
Just two more days, but there’s a lot of cool stuff happening, like:
(1) We added a New Prize Category
I think you’re going to like this; it’s a “People’s Choice” award, where you guys (photo walkers) get to choose a winner from all the local winning entries to win a separate prize package (hey, this won’t be easy—you’ll have to choose one out of around 915 local winners). More details to come.
(2) We’re in USA Today
The nation’s largest newspaper ran a story on the Photo Walk in their Technology section yesterday. Here’s the link to read it online. (How cool is that!!!).
(3) Special Email for Walk Leaders
An email went out to all the leaders yesterday with some last-minute details, a handy-checklist, and other important leader stuff, so if you’re a Walk Leader, make sure you keep an eye out for it.
(4) Photo Walk Lightroom Workflow Tutorial
Matt Kloskowski has put together a Lightroom Workflow Video Tutorial for people participating in the walk, and we’ll be making that available shortly as well. Keep an eye out here, or on the Photo Walk site for more details.
(5) Don’t forget Brad and Jeff
Brad Moore and Jeff Revell are posting a steady stream of posts and ideas about this Saturday’s walk, so make sure you visit the official Photo Walk site, and PhotoWalkPro.com before Saturday to get the latest info.
(6) Don’t miss my Walk advice article
On Tuesday I posted an article with some advice for anyone participating in the Photo Walk, so if you missed it, here’s that link again.
(7) We now have over 29,000 Photographers signed up to Walk
I know. It’s Crazy.
That’s it for today. Check back tomorrow for any last-minute advice (and quite possibly we’ll be pulling another rabbit out of our hat!).

Basic question but in all the blogs and FAQ etc.m, I don’t see any advice on what equipment to bring. Should we leave the tripod at home? Flash units or not? Any recommendations from experience appreciated.
Thanks!
D.
Tripod or not would depend more on time of day. My walk begins at 6pm thru 9pm. So I am definitely bringing my tripod for some night shots after 8pm. Lugging it around for 2 hours isn’t my first choice but I don’t see anyway around it. I’ll take my flash too, don’t know that I’ll need but heck better safe than sorry. I have a photo vest that will make carrying it no problem.
I wish I had the 18-200 lens for this walk….
I am still having issues logging into my account at the photowalk site – is anyone else having this issue?
Never mind it worked this morning.
I’m so excited… 29 thousand worldwide so far. I am leading a full house PhotoWalk in North Phoenix-PVCC. I told the grill we are ending at to expect 50 or more at 11am and they are happy, haha. Let’s have FUN!

How many pics can each photog enter into the contest? Last year it was 20. Will it be less now that there are 27k photogs?
Hmmm…was it 20 pics per photog last year? Perhaps that was a “local” limit as I do not remember hearing about that limit before; I know for our walk here many people submitted more than that. 20 should be more than enough and I could certainly see organizers whittling that down to 10 even.
Cheers….

Looks like it is ONLY TWO images per person this year… http://worldwidephotowalk.com/blog/2009/07/15/the-big-e-usa-today/
I’m leading 2 Photo Walks in Caracas, Venezuela.
We’re ready and looking forward to it. There will be photographers driving some 6 hours to join me at El Hatillo and at Las Mercedes suburbs in Caracas.
I’m haven’t decided whether to take my Manfrotto tripod or not.
Its been raining here. Any tip for taking pictures under the rain?

#3 says an email went out to leaders. I never received an email.
im testing credentials on lightroom and when i input my walk URL it says incomplete or necessary white space is needed.. please advice.
re walk: sunshine-coast-ql-au
I didn’t get an e-mail either, as per #3.
I also have issues where most of my Dashboard items open into a black square and nothing else; this includes the instructions for uploading our group’s winning shot to the main site, so I am getting fairly anxious to have some advice on how to fix this one, as it has the potential to become a severe embarrassment to everyone.
