I am fairly new with Photoshop. In fact, I am in my computer most of the time studying these videos I found. Your book will definitely be added in my library. Don't you just learning?!

OK. OK Scott. Enough is enough!! Having read your Lightroom 2 book which is truely excellent I decided I would buy all three of your Digital Photography books. So here I am working my way through book 1 when I find the first jibe at doctors. Then I get to chapter 10 and the entire intro is about rich docs. Give us a break!! Here in the UK we have the wonderful socialised medicine (better know as the Obama Plan - haha) which isn't associated with the mega-salaries of your lot. Leave us poor docs alone and do us all a favour and lay into the bankers :-)

PS Keep up the good work :-)

Scott,

On page 185 there's a small tabletop tripod. I can tell it's a Manfrotto but which model and ballhead do you use on it?

Just got Volume 3 delivered from Amazon! I've been printing out all these articles the last few weeks on how to do product shots. Haven't really been satisfied with any of them. I should have known you would have a whole chapter devoted to it! Lot of great stuff I'm going to start using immediately!

Thanks

Scott,

Congrats on Volume 3! I hope there will be several more volumes in the future. The tips are fantastic and I love your sense of humor. The bit about the National Geographic photographer and the tripod in volume 1 still cracks me up when I think about it.

Hi Scott,
I just purchased this book from Amazon (UK) and read it uninterrupted last night, except for a 10 minute interval when my 14 month old son decided he wanted to be awake, rather than asleep!). I must say was a fab book it is too and follows volumes 1 & 2 perfectly. I'm just a beginner/amateur, so the chapters on studio work and sport photography are not so relevant to me....yet. The last chapter showing recipes for certain types of shot is probably the part I will read again & again and refer to when I need to. Any plans to release a book just crammed full of recipes? I would definitely buy it!

I remember that you were polling people for ideas of what they'd like to see in volume 3, but at that time I couldn't think of anything. However now that time has passed how about a book dedicated to post-processing and workflows? I'm still getting myself in knots trying to find a suitable workflow from RAW to final image. Also, I'm on a tight budget and can't afford expensive software like Photoshop, so would like some recommendations for 'free' or 'cheap' software I could use as an alternative. I've tried a trial of PhotoMatix Pro for HDR and very much like it, but are there any 'free' alternatives out there? All that sort of stuff.

Anyway, good with the books and I look forward to Volume 4 !!!

Regards
Darren

Scott,

I want to thank you very much for another very well written book. I have all 3 volumes plus the CS3 and Lightroom 2 books, and am a member of both NAPP and Kelbytraining. I'm about halfway through Volume 3 and THANK YOU for the chapter on the truth about lenses. Thanks to the passion you guys have shown for your craft, you and McNally are costing me a fortune in new gear! But its all good and I'm very happy with my new (refurbished) D700.

One quick question if I may. I note that you endorse B&H Photo. Is there any functional difference in your view between them and Adorama? I know McNally endorses them. But I frankly didn't have a great experience with them recently. I'm sure its just an isolated instance. But what do you think of B&H for lowbies like me who don't often get the "pro" treatment?

Thanks again for your great books and training.

Regards,
Omar D. Rivero

I'm reading Digital Photography Book 3-What a great book! I use Imagenomic's noise reduction for most of my images and see that you recommend Nik Define in book 3. Do you find that one program works more efficiently for specific applications?
All three books are excellent resources and I take them with me on photo trips--Thanks for writing such great references!

I live in Cyprus and I have purchased all my Scott books at http://www.bookdepository.co.uk All books are sent free post all round the world so give them a try. By the way I do not work for them or get commision (see I talking Scott talk now).
Can anyone out there answer me this, I'm having problems getting the Down and Dirty first and CS3 editions, are they being reprinted?

Add the 1.4x or 2x extender if you need greater reach. You will lose an f-stop or 2, but these extenders are amazing. I have used them both on my 70-200mm f/2.8 IS, with excellent results.
