If you want to view paradise
Simply look around and view it
Anything you want to, do it
Wanta change the world?
There's nothing
To it

There is no
Life I know
To compare with
Pure imagination
Living there
You'll be free
If you truly wish to be

If you want to view paradise
Simply look around and view it
Anything you want to, do it
Wanta change the world?
There's nothing
To it

There is no
Life I know
To compare with
Pure imagination
Living there
You'll be free
If you truly
Wish to be

I worked for Jay in the early 80's, and everything you said was to a "T". Jay is a fasinating man, his creations are often breathtaking. Jay's "crazy camera" photos are remarkable, especially that NYC 4th of July that hung in his gallery. My personal favorite being a native New Yorker is the parking meter with "time expired", a photo that I can very well relate to. I wish you much success and thanks for a wonderful write-up on Jay.

Jamie, thanks for the link to your guest column. Having participated in Jay's June '09 workshop, I can attest to the fact that you live up to the requirements that you stated. You were always organized, calm, courteous, and professional yet able foresee any avoidable problems all while maintaining a sense of humor. Your presence and affable manor helped make the week special!

Glad you got the job. Years ago I asked Jay from the audience what it took to get a job as his assistant, and he said something to the effect that you had to be strong enough to carry his equipment which ruled out a small woman like me. Humph!

Your "tips for assistants" segment is applicable to employers of all kinds. I've copied it for my teenage daughter.

Your work is fascinating and your photography beautiful; thank you so much!

Definitely a very insightful and well written profile. I would venture a guess that getting Jamie to say so much in one sitting was like trying to crack open an oyster to get out the pearl, but both things are worth the effort.
