this was a really quality post. In theory I'd like to write like this too - taking time and real effort to make a good article... but what can I say... I procrastinate a lot and never seem to get something done.

I purchased Jeff's 50D book recently and can't put it down. If the tech guys that write the camera manuals could take a few lessons from Jeff in how to understand the cameras functions and how they can benefit the end user, we wouldn't need books like these frmo Jeff. But, I'm glad that they haven't figured it out yet. Jeff's book is much more enjoyable.

Hey Scott,

Is it time to update your "My Gear" page? I am trying to keep up with what you blog about, and an update would be helpful.

Thanks,
Joe

I have been toying with either getting a D90 or a D5000. I find myself moving towards the D5000...any feedback would be appreciated.

I may be a little biased but, Jeff's Canon book is an excellent book on the BASICS of Photography. It just happens to be using the Canon or Nikon camera. So if you own the particular camera or want to learn about the basics these books are really good. IMHO

I wish there were a book like this for the Sony Alpha, I would have bought one in a heartbeat. Seems like a fantastic idea and I'm sure all the D5000 owners will be excited to check it out.

Scott, have you considered updating your "My Gear" page? The D5000 is missing from it and I wonder what else has changed since you made that list.
