btw..for ND filters, which density do you recommend? I found several from .3 and onwards and should I get Tiffen or Hoya? I know having a good "Glass" makes a huge difference. I'm not sure about other companies.

"editing DSLR video for Windows users"

Personally I can't wait for this. Information is so limited, especially geared to a photographer who plays with the new video features on the cameras. It would be super if it could include information about Canon created .mov file editing for the pc.

Thanks again for all your great info, Scott.

Anowshka, I have bought all makes of filters and some are super expensive. Many of the filters we used in film days you can sub in photoshop. I personally find that ND filters and polarizing filters are the ones I use most. I have found some nice kits with Lee Filters that are cheaper than some. I like using the graduated nd filters simply by holding them in front of the lens (ie landscapes). My personal advice would be to join NAPP if you already havn't and they have great discounts and tech/product help.

Scott,

Thanks for the heads up on "Help Portrait". I just joined the Ning networking site (for Help Portrait) and also found that there is a San Francisco Facebook Group. I plan on getting involved.

Hi Mr. Kelby
Photography has been my hobby since my father handed me his Canon SLR T80 when I was in High School because he didn't know how to use it. I am not a professional but photography is my favorite pass time. I just bought my first DSLR camera and someone I had met in NYC recommended, the 3 volumes on Digital Photography by Scott Kelby, to me. Great insight and I love the simplicity of the writing. This is the first time that I actually understand Photography Lingo. I am learning more than expected. Thank you. I am going on a trip to Dubai and would like to know if you can recommend good filters for Canon Rebel XSi for me please? I mean what are the good companies for filters? and what else should carry with me?
Thank you.
Regards, Anowshka
