Monday News Blast-a-Roonie
Hi everybody. Lots of stuff’s been piling up during the past week or so, so here we go:
New Podcast from Rick Sammon
I just learned that our buddy Rick Sammon has launched a new radio Podcast called “The Digital Photo Experience” which he co-hosts with Juan Pons. The first episode was just released on iTunes (the Podcast is free), and it’s already playing to rave reviews (his average rating is five-stars), so if you’ve got a second, check it out (here’s the link—you can listen right within iTunes, and subscribe for free so you don’t miss another episode).
Shuttle Shots from Scott Diussa
Friend of the blog (and Photoshop World instructor) Scott Diussa, posted some very cool images from the recent Space Shuttle launch taken by remote. They’re pretty sweet, so if you’ve got a minute, check them out right here on his blog. (Also don’t miss his shots of how the remote cameras looked after the launch).
David Ziser’s “Wedding Photography: Rapid Fire Tips & Tricks”
Master wedding photographer and brilliant instructor David Ziser is back with a brand new rapid-fire collection of some the must useful tips he’s picked-up during his 25-year career shooting weddings around the world. The class just went “live” last week at Kelby Training Online, and people are already talking about it. Here’s the link with more details (or to watch it online).
Thanks to the Geeks!
Just a quick word of thanks to UK-based RegHardware—the folks behind the “Geeks Guide2 Christmas Guide, Part I,” who included my new book, “The Digital Photography Book, Volume 3″ in their guide this year. Here’s the link.
Photoshop User TV—-Tweaked for Episode II
Tomorrow the 2nd episode from the new season of Photoshop User TV goes live (I’ll try to run it here on the blog tomorrow if possible), and we did tweak the show a bit. After watching it, we felt pretty much the same way you guys did—-shorter and more content is better, but we lost some of what made the show what it was, so it’s still short and sweet, but not so rushed and with a little more “us” in it than the first episode. Hope you guys like the tweaks (and look for it here tomorrow, with any luck).
Volumes 1, 2, and 3 reviewed at “Learning to See the Light”
I just ran across this in-depth review of my three-volume set of, “The Digital Photography Books, Volumes 1, 2, & 3″ over at the “Learning to See The Light” blog. Here’s the link to check it out.
Where are The Deals You Talked About on Friday?
OK, apparently I was one of the last people on earth to realize that today is Cyber Monday (by the way—the term “Cyber” as in “Cyberspace” is just about as dated as “Super Information Highway”), but although I’m one of the last to learn about that, apparently I am absolutely the last one to know exactly which deals my company is planning on running today as part of “Cyber Monday,” so….maybe at some point today they’ll let me know. Hey—the good news is—we may have some job openings very soon at NAPP.
That’s it for “Cyber Monday”
Have a great day as you “Surf The Web” (Sorry, that’s the only other related phrase I could think of that is as dated as “Cyber”).

Glad to hear you’re adding some of your personalities back into the Photshop TV broadcasts. I enjoyed the tips from the first show, but missed the interaction between the three of you. That is the “entertainment” portion of the show. Happy it’ll be coming back.
Hey Scott,
I’m also glad to see you’re personalizing the show more! As I said last week, the tips are really, really helpful! I did as you said and downloaded last weeks show, and I stopped and resumed a few times to capture your 10 tips in 10 seconds.
Thanks again for all you guys do, and I’m looking forward to seeing the episode tomorrow!
Dennis

Where should I send my resume?
Tamara
I just want to let you know Scott, I didn’t know what the specials were either…Because if I had, I would have immediately let you know:)
Tamara
(the one that works for you)
Job openings at NAPP? I’m really interested! Please post a link concerning the details because I’ld love to apply! *crossing fingers*
Sincerely,
Roar
I just wonder if Scott D. got thos D-3s cleaned and working after that. I have chest pains if I get a little dust on mine!
PS PSUTV new episode seemed just a little bit rushed. I think I can saftley say that probably most your followers wouldn’t care how long it is. Thanks, can’t wait till next one.
The guy works for Nikon. His D-3s are disposables.
LOL… Skip, contrary to popular belief they aren’t disposable!
Ken, we did get them cleaned up right away. The most important part is to get the lens elements cleaned off really well because of any extra rocket fuel that may be on there. It doesn’t work well with lens coatings. What was worse than what these cameras got was that there was a ground fire out there after the shuttle went up the almost took out a bunch of remote cameras. It came right up to the tripod legs on a few of them!
Those photos from the launch are incredible. I too would have had health issues if my equipment got that dirty.
A RAW DEAL!!!
As a NAPP member, I eagerly anticipated your “Unbelievable One-Day-Only Cyber Monday Deals” since I wanted to complete my CS4 collection of DVDs by getting an “unbelievable” deal on your new “Adobe Photoshop CS4 Mastering Camera RAW” DVD. For hours, I sat before my computer, credit card in hand, awaiting an e-mail or some indication on the members-only website as promised But alas, nothing! I’ve had e-NEFF!!! I’m just going to have to apply the money I would have spent on your DVD (sniff) toward a new D300s!!!
Cecil,
If you’re still interested, the Cyber Monday deals are listed here:

*Where sould I send my resume?* It would be my dream job next to Brads!!!*
*Should*
Nope, sorry to disappoint anybody, but, there are others of us out here also in the dark about “Cyber-Monday.” Even if the expression has existed for some time, it appears to be emphasized this year, perhaps driven by an effort to stoke sales. Hope for our collective well-being it works.
And exactly where would a well qualified CPA send his resume?
Scott – I get your frustration with your marketing department. Is the public flogging getting your desired affect? I hope everything gets worked out to your satisfaction. Cheers. I love what you guys do and share with us.
J
P.S. I just got a friend to join NAPP today!
The Digital Photo Experience website has now gone live. It looks to be a great site and podcast.
The website is http://www.dpexperience.com
There is something for everyone and it will prove that a Canon shooter (Rick is one of the Canon Explorers of Light) and a Nikon shooter (Hey, my Photoshopworld pre-con is sponsored by Nikon Professional Services) can get along.
Alan
I don’t suppose the job openings would be at NAPP’s yet to be announced UK offices…?!
I can live in hope!
Rich
I have been searching for weeks trying to get my hands on the latest trading software, I finally found a great website full of information.
Thanks for keeping us up to date! Just wanted to let you know I included your books on my Scrapbook Lady gift giving guide at http://bit.ly/8UOy6E
