My New iPod Book is Released (and other books from me that might make great holiday gifts)
I just found out that my latest book, “The iPod Book” is now in bookstores (and available from online booksellers, too).
The book is written in the exact same style and layout as my books, “The Digital Photography Book,” (with just one topic per page, and a photo to go along with every topic), so if you’re familiar with that book (or volumes 2 or 3), you’ll feel right at home with this one.
This is the sixth edition of the book, and this time around I did a pretty massive update to the book to reflect what iPod users are doing now, and I really worked hard on making the whole iPod/iTunes experience really simple and fun, and a lot of the book is dedicated to the iPod nano and iPod touch, and I cover all the latest iPods and how to get the most from them. It’s in bookstores now, or you can buy yours now online, in time for Christmas, at Barnes & Noble.com or Amazon.com (it sells for around $14).

The iPhone Book
This one, which I co-authored with one of my very best friends and total iPhone guru, Terry White, and if you’ve got an iPhone, or know someone who has an iPhone, they will totally dig this book, which (like the iPod book above), uses the same format, writing style, and layout as my Digital Photography Book series. You can find it at Amazon.com Barnes & Noble.com, or Borders.com (it sells for around $12. Cheap!).

The Digital Photography Book Boxed Set (Vols. 1,2, & 3)
If you want to give a boxed set of all three of my Digital Photography Books (Volumes 1, 2 & 3), you can get a pretty sweet deal on the set at Barnes & Noble.com (the boxed three-book set sells for around $50).

My Photoshop & Lightroom Books
Of course, my Photoshop CS4 Book for Digital Photographers book might make a nice gift, or my Lightroom 2 Book for Digital Photographers, or maybe my Photoshop CS4 Down & Dirty Tricks Book (or hey—-why not all three)? If you use Photoshop Elements 8, take a look at my book, “The Elements 8 Book for Digital Photographers,” which I co-authored with Matt Kloskowski. You can find these, and all my books, at Barnes & Noble.com, or Amazon.com.

Scott,
How are you going to make any money if your iPod book sells around $00?
Rats—I guess I better fix that one, eh?
Thanks for catching that!

You are just a writing machine!
Scott,
I just may pick up a copy of the iPod book for a gift or two. The price is right @ $00.
You forgot to mention your book that comes out on the 30th. I’m very excited about that one! Peachpit has it on their site already.
I have all of your books Scott and I love them! I really don’t have a lot of time to read but your’s are easy, quick and most of all funny. I remeber my favorite college profs were the ones that were humorous and those are the subjects I remeber (38 years later). I believe even the best of photographers can learn from your books (and the Iphone book saved me). You should get the Nobel (they are giving them pretty freely now, Just kidding, don’t want to get anything started today).
The two books I got the most out of were the Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 2 Book for Digital Photographers, and the 7-Point System for Adobe Photoshop CS3 (Amazon shows it out of stock). I got the Lightroom book while I was demoing Lightroom. It completely sold me on the software. Without it, not sure I would have switched from Aperture. With it, I completely understand and love Lightroom. The 7-Points book is my favorite of Scotts books. The concept of taking actual photographs and breaking down what needs to be done, and then showing how to apply the tools, is fabulous. More than just a “This is how to do a gradient”, this is a “This photo needs a gradient to darken and bring drama to the sky, and this is how to do it” type of book.
I have CS4 and really want your 7 point book. Since it was written for CS3, will it work for me with CS4? If you wouldn’t mind replying to my email, I’d really appreciate it! Thanks, I love every one of your books I’ve ever had. Yours are the best.
Amazon, B&N, and Scott (above) all say the iPod Book 6th Edition is available or on the shelf. I ordered mine from Kelby Training on November 10 and haven’t received it yet and when I called Customer Service this evening to check on the status they say the book just went into print and is not available. Can I get an update, please? Thanks!
Not sure if this is the right place to ask my question, but I have your great CS4 Book for Digital Photographers. Every page is a gem!
Regarding the ‘Rule-Breaking Resizing for Poster-Sized Prints’ on p186-188, you say to make the resolution 360ppi. Our lab asks for images to be set to 300ppi. So … if I send a 24 x 36″ poster-sized print res’d to 360ppi to the lab, will I get the right-sized poster looking great, or will the lab print based on the pixel count – a larger print or the right-sized print displaying only the center part of the image? Many thanks!
I found your web page from bing and it is superb. Thankx for providing such an informative post!!!!
