Win My One-of-a-kind Signature Guitar
You’ve gotta watch the short video above for all the details, but here’s the quick scoop:
(1) It’s a raffle I’m using as a final year-end fund raiser to help feed the orphans at the Springs of Hope Kenya Orphanage
(2) There’s more to it than just winning a cool guitar, so you have to watch the video.
(3) The raffle tickets are $25 each, and you can buy as many as you’d like to increase your chances to win. (Once you add your ticket to the cart, just click the “add another” button as many times as you want).
(4) All the money, every single penny from every raffle ticket goes directly to Springs of Hope Kenya to feed and care for these wonderful children
(5) We’ll choose the winner at random on Monday, January 4, 2010 so enter now (or at least before that Monday. If you win—what an awesome way to start the year. If you don’t win, all your raffle ticket money still goes to feeding orphans. There is just no way to lose on this one).
(6) Here’s where you enter (link)
(7) This is my last fund-raiser for the year, so please help me spread the word through your blogs, Twitter, Facebook, carrier pigeon, etc..
(8) This is the stuff that Christmas is really all about. Well, not necessarily guitars, but you know what I mean.
Thanks you guys for helping transform an empty plot of land into a place where homeless children are homeless no more, and they’re loved and cared for by two of the most wonderful and genuine people I’ve ever known—Molly and Joseph Bail.

HAve you done anything similar to help feed the children of America?
Absolutely. And you?
-Scott
I just contributed – did you know it was adding shipping, or did I do something wrong ?
Butch, I don’t see your answer here yet.
Scott,
You are a great man, don’t let this fool enter your mind for one nano second. How about some pictures of the kids?
To Jim:
I may be making a trip out there this year, and if I do I’ll bring back plenty of pictures and video.
Merry Christmas!
-Scott
You’re a better man than me Scott…I’m ashamed that my first reaction to Butch Barker makes me no better than him in what I felt on his comment. Thanks for taking the high road and giving me an opportunity learn by example.
Really, are you serious. Knowing Scott personally, I can say with 100% confidence that he does more for others and for charity that 99.9% of Americans! He really is a great person and someone to look up to rather than trying to put his efforts down or question it. These actions are all genuine and honest, just wanting to help make the world a better place. You also have to remember that not only are 100% of the proceeds going straight to the Charity, but he’s invested his time, his resources, his guitar, and not to mention the time of the people involved making videos, web links, and other things to make this happen and it’s all on his dime. Home many other organizations give 100% back without taking anything!
Bottom line, I wish there were more Americans like Scott, givers not takers, maybe then we wouldn’t be spending our time writing comments or responses like this and actually out doing stuff to help people. Oh wait… that’s right… I forgot! I’m actually volunteering to feed the needy with Metropolitan Ministries in Tampa this weekend. Oh yeah, and I know Scott has been volunteering his time recently on the weekend too with local “American” efforts.

I can’t believe the negative sentiment that shows up here on such a philanthropic post. Really – if I say I’m donating to American Red Cross today are you going to be mad at me for not donating to a soup kitchen down the street? There is more things that need doing out in the world than one possible person can. And the fact that one person is spending their time and money doing ANYTHING AT ALL is altruism; plain and simple.
Deflecting someone’s one good deed by pointing out other one’s left-out is useless and unproductive.
Scott has a favourite charity that he publicly supports, he likely gives to many others. Maybe he votes Independent – but that’s none of my business – why do you, Butch, think it’s yours?
I work for a Charity in Canada, I have for years, and I donate too – not just to my own charity. It feels good and nobody I work with would question me why I gave to the hospital that helped deliver my son, and if they did – well, I wouldn’t think to highly of them because they obviously didn’t get the point in the first place.
From a forum:
“Does anyone know where I can download one of those charts that you can photograph to make sure your camera is focusing properly?
–
Butch Barker ”
Turn the camera around Butch.

Lyle missed the joke.
Lyle has a pretty active lively of humor himself, and didn’t miss “the joke”; On the web, you never really know where someone else is at or their abilities/understanding – no reason to return what seemed ill-willed in like manner (in my view ). And, if the person never found the item them were looking for in what you quoted, now they have it.

Seriously? This is the first comment on this generous charitable effort?
Bah, humbug!
Scott, you rock (with or without guitar), as always. Thanks for helping the kids.
Scott, God bless you brother for what you do. I challenge all of the blog commentors that visit your site to contribute. Putting our little statements in each day is one thing but put your money where your mouth is, well thats another. Got my name in.
Hey Ken:
Thanks for the kind words, and I hope you win!
-Scott
I’m pulling for you too Ken!

For those of us lucky enough to have actually met Scott and been able to spend even just a few hours around him, he is a remarkably generous and humble human being. I wish that I could tell everyone the extreme kindness and generosity he has shown me before, during and even after I won the “Shoot on the Sidelines with Scott & Mike” contest. Lets just say not only was my original prize very handsomely upgraded but I have gotten many other gifts and rewards from Scott. The biggest of which was being able to hang out with him during the Bears game and to enjoy a nice breakfast talking about our families together. He doesn’t just portray himself as a wonderful, caring, & generous person he lives it! Everyone who visits this site reads about the wonderful things he does to help other people , both here or abroad. And I suspect that he doesn’t even expose the tip of the iceberg on here!I hope everyone who visits this site joins me and buys one of these raffle tickets. Thanks Scott for being an inspiration to all of us, as a photographer, teacher and especially a human being. And my sincerest THANKS for everything you have done for me personally. Merry Christmas to you and your family brother! In your words ” I hope it ROCKS”
Awesome idea! I hope it is a great success… Cool prize, too. Now that you are giving your guitar away I hope that Santa puts a new one under your Christmas tree this year!
Happy Holidays to all of you guys… Thanks for all you do!
(P.S. Nice tapping technique!
)
Done and Done
Scott,
I am President of IGT America. We also do the sublimation on metal prints. I would be happy to donate a metal print for this raffle – you pick the size. Maybe you could do the print of the gang – then I’ll send it back to you and you guys can sign it and send it to the winner.
You have my email – let me know.
T
Ok man I want to jam with you if I win. FYI the checkout process added shipping – if that was a mistake no need to refund just give it to the kids. Fun promotion Scott.
Hi Scott:
Yeah—shipping on a raffle ticket was totally a goof on our part. We fixed it.
If you win, we’ll jam before we put it in the case!
Merry Christmas!
-Scott
In it to win it
Great Stuff Scott!
Great idea Scott, count me in.
Ok, I’m in. But if my name comes up, Scott, the guitar goes back to you. It would be wasted on me.
My kids and I purchased a ticket to help out! Merry Christmas to you Scott and everyone else at KMG/NAPP and Springs of Hope!!
Thanks Jeff—-it’s great to see the Chancellor wants to rock!
Merry Christmas!
-Scott
I’m not sure if it’s my browser or user error or what but I can’t find or see the video for the life of me.
I can’t see the video either.
Make sure you have the latest version of the free Flash player.
Mac: http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/?promoid=BUIGP
Windows: http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/otherversions/
Hope that helps.

Hey Scott,
Do I have some settings messed up on my computer that whenever you post videos I am never able to view them, they say file not found error?
Secondly, I would love to talk to you about a future trip to Africa and the orphanage. I always have students looking for mission trip opportunities and I have an idea that I would love to run by you.
Kris
HAHA scott doing some fingertapping great to see!
Good for you Scott! Your a great role model, and I love that your taking care of those kids!
love the show, and love your generosity.
Matt
My gawd, you’re awesome. Seriously.
And Merry Christmas! Did I mention you’re awesome? Yep.
Scott,
Great causes needs great people. You definitely are one of them!!!
Warm greetings from sunny island Aruba!
Happy holidays to everyone around!!
Kenny
Btw Scott, I’d like to bring you down to the island for a seminar. How do I go about and make that happen?? Thanks!
Scott, Springs of hope web site at beginning of video spelled wrong.
Scott,
I thought you played a Fender Strat like at Photoshop World in Las Vegas?
Hi David:
I have five guitars; the white strat, a sunburst-colored Epiphone Les Paul, the black Diamond Series Schecter I’m giving away, a Schecter Hell Raiser, and a Yamaha acoustic guitar (which is technically my wife’s but I’ve kinda absconded with it).
-Scott
I dont think anybody is interested with that guitar and the signatories are not musicians or good musicians. how about Photoshop Books, Videos etc. related to Photoshop or Photography. Just a suggestion… Merry Christmas!
Geez…
Actually, as a musician (guitarist) of 25 years and knowing that most artists (be it photographers or web designers) have a musically inclined (creative) streak in them, I would venture to say that most of the people visiting this site would be interested in this prize.
I just bought my ticket.
Now ince I can’t play one note.. (probably one of the reasons I shoot concerts instead of perform in them) If I win I expect Scott Diussa to send me lessons !
Actually if I win I will do something with it as a cool giveaway at PSW in Orlando.
Scott:
I have been reading your blog for about 9 months, been shooting a little over a year, your generosity finally moved me to register, post and give.
Cheers
Scott,
I lived in Cape Verde, Africa for a year and know how much a little can go a long way for these people. Please let me know if there is ever anything I can do to help.
Thanks,
Dan
